Echoes From Upside : Chapter 3
Chapter 3 - The Discussion
Characters: Edward, Lily, Charles, Steve,
Christina, Alina (Edward's mother), Jack
(Edward's father)
At Edward's home
Alina: "Welcome home, son. How was your day?"
Edward: "Yeah, it was good."
(On the news channel) Over the past few weeks, some people have been going
missing without any signs or evidence. The police are searching for them, but
they haven't been found yet.
Jack: "Did you hear that news, Alina and Edward? People are going missing. We must be careful."
Alina: "Yes, darling."
Edward (thinking about the two missing people's journals).
Jack: "Are you listening, Edward?"
Edward (snapping out of his thoughts):
"Yeah, Dad, I understood."
The next day at Hillwood's museum at 10 am
Edward, Lily, Charles, and Christina are waiting at the museum's entry gate.
Edward: "Where is he?"
"Call him, Charles."
Charles: "I'm trying, but he's not picking
up."
Lily: "Is he always like this? Late every
time?"
Edward: "Yeah, from childhood."
Lily smiles.
Steve arrives at the place.
Steve: "Hey, guys. I'm sorry. I kept you waiting."
Edward: "Where have you been?"
Steve: "I had some urgent work to do. I'll explain later. Now, let's go inside."
Edward: "Okay, follow me, everyone."
Edward and his friends entered the museum and went to the backroom of the art room.
Edward: "So, we have two missing
people's journals-one belonging to Harvard and the other to George Hailey.
But we don't know if Alan Harvard is actually missing or not."
Charles: "Yeah, he is because he hasn't been coming to school for the past few weeks. He's a popular guy, so it's unusual for him to miss school."
Lily: "That doesn't provide a clear answer to whether he's missing or not."
Edward: "Yeah, but George is missing, as Lily mentioned seeing him in the missing persons section of the newspaper, and I saw it too."
Steve: "So now, how do we find out if he's really missing?"
Edward: "We can figure it out. We'll go to his house."
Christina: "Oh, great! I'll go to his house...my dream person."
(daydreaming)
Edward, Steve, Charles, and Lily stare at Christina.
Christina: "Okay... I'm sorry, guys.
Continue what you were saying, Edward."
Edward: "I want to tell you guys one more thing. I saw many more reports on the news channel yesterday about missing people from the past few weeks. So, I was thinking there might be a connection between these missing cases, such as dates, similarities between the missing people, and so on."
Lily: "Yeah, and if they went missing, there should be missing posters about them in the newspapers from the past few weeks."
Edward: "Exactly."
Steve: "Yes, and once we find the connection, we might get some clues about these missing cases in Hillwood."
Edward: "Yes, exactly. So now we have two things to do. First, go to Harvard's house. Second, check the old newspapers from the past few weeks. We'll split into two groups. Lily and Steve will go to Harvard's house, and Charles, Christina, and I will check the old newspapers."
Christina: "Hey, wait. Why can't I go to
Harvard's house?"
Edward: "Because I want you to focus on finding the truth instead of getting carried away with your crush."
Christina: "Oh, come on, Edward... I'll go to his house too."
Edward: "You want to talk to your crush while people are going missing in Hillwood?"
Christina: (with disappointment) "I'm sorry."
Edward: "Now, let's go."
Charles: "Finally, I'm going to solve a mystery in my life!" (excitedly smiles)
Edward: "Don't get too excited, Charles. We don't know the reason behind these missing cases. We might get into trouble or a really bad mess."
Everyone stares at Edward with tension arriving on their faces
Lily: "Okay, guys, good luck to everyone."
Edward: "We'll meet at the park near the museum at 5 pm."
Steve: "Got it."
The two groups start heading towards their assigned destinations.
