Echoes From Upside: Chapter 1
Echoes From Upside: Chapter 1
Chapter 1: The Library
Characters: Edward, Charles, Steve,
Christina, Lily
Hillwood Town... Hillwood High School...
The bell rings.
Teacher: "With that ring, your last class
ends, and from tomorrow you guys have
summer holidays... so enjoy yourself to
the fullest."
The teacher departs.
Steve: "Hey Edward, want to go to the
library at 4 pm? I want a book to enhance
my poetry skills."
Edward: "Yeah, but I think the library will
be closed at that time."
Steve: "It's not a big deal, man. I know a
way to get in."
Edward: "You mean we'll trespass?"
Steve: "Ah, yeah... I mean not exactly, but
kind of."
Edward: "That's not a good idea,
according to me."
Steve: "Okay then, you don't come... I'll go
alone."
Charles: "Hey, guys... planning anything
to do this summer?"
Edward: "Yeah, Steve has a full trip to
prison this summer."
Steve: "Very funny."
Charles: "Ah, anyone want to explain
'prison' and 'trip' to me? I can't get it."
Edward: "He wants to trespass into the
library."
Charles: "Oh, that's cool."
Edward: "What..."
Steve: "Yeah, that's my brother right
there."
Edward: "You know what, guys? You both
are idiots."
Charles: "Hey, come on, man... let's have
fun this summer. I've seen things like this
in movies where a group of friends go
secretly and solve mysteries."
Edward: "Let's be realistic... why would a
small library in this small town hold any
secrets?"
Charles: "Maybe... who knows?"
Steve: "Okay, guys, then we'll meet this
afternoon... Are you coming, Edward?"
Edward: "I guess I don't have a choice."
At 4 pm, near the library...
Edward: "Where are these idiots?"
Steve and Charles arrive on their cycles.
Steve: "Hey, sorry, Edward, we're late."
Edward: "Yeah, yeah, you guys should be."
Charles: "Hey, guys, the library is open."
Edward: "Yeah, actually, I told the guard
because I don't want to spend my
summer holidays in prison."
Steve: "You think too much, man."
Edward: "Whatever... now, let's go."
As they enter the library, they notice two
girls reading.
Steve: "Hey, there's Christina and Lily."
Edward: "Hey, guys... what are you two
doing here?"
Christina: "Why, can't we come here?"
Edward: "No, I didn't mean that."
Lily: "Whatever... what are you guys doing
here?"
Charles: "Maybe to solve some mysteries
or just to spend a boring day among
these books."
Christina: "I think you watch a lot of
movies, don't you, Charles?"
Charles: "Yeah, but how do you know?"
Edward: "Anyone can tell that by your
peculiar interests."
Charles: "Hey, it's not peculiar."
Edward: "Leave him, Steve... did you find
the book?"
Steve: "I'm searching... but I can't find it."
Christina: "Which book are you looking
for?"
Steve: "It's a poem collection by Edmund
Spencer."
Christina: "I think it's already been taken by a boy who came after school... I don't remember his name."
Lily: "His name is Trent... he's from our
class, and he mostly keeps to himself."
Christina: "You seem to know a lot about
him... what's the matter?"
Lily: "Hey, it's not what you think."
Christina: "Oh, is it?"
Steve: "Hey, guys, I found something."
Edward: "What is it?"
Steve: "Look, here's a basement | stumbled upon when I grabbed this old book."
Lily - that's surprising....I didn't know that there is a basement
Edward - let's see then what's inside
Edward and his friends enter into the basement.
