Doomed

"There is only one way” Aditya muttered to himself. “Yes, they can't leave without doing this,” he said, as he got down from Ruka and looked in the direction he came from, searching for Aira and Shibhu. “Don't leave” he said loudly when he spotted them and walked faster. “We aren't just leaving, we are here,” Aira said, walking towards him. “We are here for another two hours. We’ve got things to do” she said, slowing down as they neared. “You’ve got things to do!” Aditya said frowning and added “You’ve got a mess to clear”  

“Ah yes, that's what we are at. We are not leaving without getting rid of them. We’ll leave no trace of life threat for you.” Aira said. “Oh, enough of your story about somebody threatening my life. First, get me rid of the threat you have caused to my life.” Aditya said with frustration. “What! I have brought you back. This is your time. We are no longer lost in time!” Aira said. “I am not lost in time. I am lost in life.” Aditya said. “What! Could you please be more clear?” Aira shrugged. “It's out there. Everywhere in the media. I am not thought to be lost. I am said to have gone with those who have blessed my workstation. I am thought to have conspired something. My family is detained. They are being questioned. They have no answers. They don't even have the peace to cry about my disappearance.” Aditya said, as his anger turned to sadness. Aira and Shibhu stepped closer to him. “What do you want us to do,” Aira said softly. “Look, I cant just go home and sleep. Wherever I show up I would be arrested for interrogation. If I speak the truth, I’d look like an idiot. If somebody can talk about all the time travel that we did and give believable evidence, it is you. You can escape any detention that happens to you since you would be gone in two hours anyway.” “But...” Aira retorted while Shibhu held her hand to stop her. 

The three of them exchanged silent looks with each other. After a long silence, Shibhu spoke “Sir, we could address the media. That would solve one problem and add another problem.” “What,” Aditya said. “The two men who destroyed your workstation are on the lookout for you. They would spot you...” Shibhu said when Aditya interrupted. “Am I supposed to live in oblivion for the rest of my life?” “Not if we get rid of the two men,” Shibhu said. “I better get rid of you two first” Aditya retorted. “Why can't we have a conversation Aditya.” “Because I am doomed if I say yes, doomed if I say no. I could say yes and go on with your nonsense. I could say no and give my head into an interrogation and get myself ridiculed.” he said. Silence fell.
