Once a washerman owned a donkey. During the day, the donkey would carry his bags of clothes but at night, he would be set free to graze in the fields. One night he met a jackal and they became good friends and started meeting every night.

One such time jackal told the donkey that he has found a cucumber field that he thought the donkey would like and he can find some animals for himself. The field was filled with ripened cucumber as the jackal had said. Both ate their food and then sat under it. "It is such a beautiful night jackal! See the full moon, the delicious cucumbers and their smell just cooling the air.....it is making me want to sing."

"No you should sing!" the jackal said. "You can eat as much as you want. Your singing might awaken the farmers."

"Oh, you're wild animals. What do you know about singing?" the donkey commented.

"Okay if you wanna sing, then let me hide first." jackal replied and then hid in the bushes.

As the donkey started singing, the farmers woke up from their sleep and saw him standing in the fields because of full moon night. They got their sticks and the donkey was beaten out from the fields.

"Yes, donkey I saw how much the farmers appreciated your singing and rewarded you for it." jackal commented as he came out from the bushes and met his friend on the trail.
