Doctor – A Selfless Profession

Once there was a boy who lived in a village with his mother. Her mother had a deformity in one of her legs. She used to do earn and did all the household work with difficulty. The boy used to see his mother working hard to earn for their living. One day he was going with his mother to buy vegetables. In the market her mother met an old woman. She too came to buy vegetables. After shopping, her mother took that old woman’s bag along with her bag and dropped that old woman home. The boy was astonished by this generous help of his mother. That day he felt very bad as he was not able to cure her mother’s leg deformity. He approached many doctors but the price was very high for the treatment. No one helped him without money. On that very day he promised himself that one day he would himself cure her mother’s leg deformity. He studied a lot and became a doctor.

This way he gave her mother the best treatment and his mother soon started walking normally. Then he realized that it's not only her mother who needed help but many others who, because of lack of money, were not able to get treated. Thus her mother encouraged him to give free treatment in their village. One day a private plane crashed near that village. The pilot and the owner both were seriously injured. The doctor ran and admitted the two in his clinic. Their conditions were serious. Days went by. Both recovered after a long treatment. During their treatment the owner came to know about the free treatment service by the doctor. He was pleased by that doctor. Now the two were getting discharged from the clinic. Before leaving, the owner handed money to the doctor which was more than enough to build a large hospital. Hence doctor’s profession is considered a selfless profession.
