Cliché

I am not a feminist. I don't talk much about women empowerment. I am a normal woman with self-respect and some common sense. A few days back a joke was forwarded in a Whatsapp group which was very unsettling for me. And the joke goes like this: A husband gives a Debit card to his wife and a complex mathematical equation which when solved gives PIN Number for the card. The husband suggested to go for shopping and to take her friends out for lunch. I was very angry on seeing this joke and to my surprise, the other men of that group appreciated it as an excellent idea. Yes, in a way it excellently stereotypes women as dumb beings pining for their husband's money. In that madness, I started solving that equation, yay me and the solution is not an integer and is a negative number. The irony is the person who forwarded the joke is a well-known 'intelligent' in our family. I might be stupid to find logic in a joke but I am never the person who reads between the lines. It is preposterous that a man created an Integral equation based on an answer(PIN Number). Later I engrossed myself into thoughts of why men wish women on women's day when they continuously undermine their capabilities.
