Benefits Of Writing Everyday

Benefits Of Writing Everyday

It was not until November that I discovered how truly beneficial it is to write daily. After writing for 29 days straight I discovered so many things. What I have been told so far by other writers are completely true and it feels great to experience it than just to listen to that advice.

Flow gets better

I was writing a romance novel. Sometimes I get stuck in between not knowing how to proceed further. I would have no clue how to proceed with the next scene. As I write daily, I have a flow of how to take it further. It has become a habit of mine to think about my story while doing other chores. Sometimes, when I'm not at all thinking about it, the next scene will strike me and it will be worth it. When you write daily, you keep yourself invested in the story. The bond between you and your story becomes stronger and you know very well where to take it further. When there is a gap of a week or more, it gets tough to bring your brain back to where you are in the story. The feel of the story will take a backseat leaving you taking some more time to get back to it.

Better sentences

Writing every day helps to fine-tune your sentences. Words will get apt with whatever you wish to convey. As you write daily, you will discover that you are getting better at forming a variety of new sentences that you have not used before and the exact fit will click in place more effortlessly.

Keeps you hooked with the story

Your mind is always so close to the story that you don’t have to read the previous chapter to get back to it. You will find the link getting stronger with the story and keep you on track without looking back. Some people say that you will take time to come up with better twists and a break in between will help. Maybe. But, at the same time, taking too much break in between will only cut you short making you unable to think easily. The feel of the story inside your head will stay stronger as you write daily.

Breaking your own record

As you get to write daily, your thinking speed and typing speed will increase enormously and you will wonder at breaking your own targets. With the flow of thoughts coming out easily, sometimes you will even find that your thinking speed exceeds your writing speed and that you will have to type faster to match that in order to not lose any fresh ideas. Slowly, your daily word count targets will get meaningless as you have flourished much more than that.

Determination

Strangely, I also found that when I wrote daily, there is a push that kicks me to write until I finished what I started. Sometimes, in the middle, when I struggle to take the story further, my mind somehow stops working on it. I didn’t have a clue how to proceed. Still, once I sit and start to write, things will fall in place. After all, the first draft is not the one landing up in the reader's hands. Rarely, do I sit to write without having anything particular in my mind? As I write a few sentences, things get to take form giving me new ideas to write further in my story.

Imparting the feel

Only when you feel the way your characters feel, your story can make an impact on readers. If your story has to stay in your readers' minds for a long time, write with the feel of putting yourself into the shoes of your characters. Writing daily will help you achieve that as you stay connected with the story by coming back to it on a daily basis.

Satisfaction

When I finish achieving my daily target, it feels so calm and energetic that I did it once more. Writing is all about enjoying the time you invest in putting out your thoughts in the form of words. As you practice writing daily, your thoughts come onto the page effortlessly conveying the meaning exactly as you wish. Playing around with words and forming poetical sentences get far easier as you write consistently. Even 500 words a day, when you are running short of ideas, will go a long way to achieve greater heights.

The confidence it provides when you practice writing daily is unmatched. It gets sweeter to experience it by practising rather than just knowing about the benefits of it. So, what are you waiting for? Get set, grab a cup of coffee while your mind is brimming with words.

Happy writing...!
