Beauty What?
Beauty What?
Beauty is skin deep many of us have heard this saying. But, the same beauty becomes a scar that gets deeper and deeper that creates a lot of pain to the beholder and the onlooker. This narrative is true every bit.
Mridul was a very beautiful girl in her early twenties. She was fair with long tresses who resembled an yester years heroine. She had a huge following of boys from the neighborhood as well as boys all over the place. She was most of the time intersted in getting dressed up and applying make up. Studies were a big No for her. Somehow she managed to finish her High school and her parents started looking for suitable matches for her. Her cousin sister who lived a few steps away from Mridul's house was surprised at how she used to waste her valuable time in getting dressed up and going to Movies and Restaurants. She was younger to Mridul by about two years. But, if we go into the background both the families even though closely related were not on good terms and this was because of the strained relationships between the men of both the families.
Mridul's father was never happy that his sister-in-law (narrator of this narrative let us call her sheel) get married to Sheel's father. He looked down upon him for reasons best known to him only. So, the ladies inspite of being sisters never could visit each other anytime. They used to meet each other either in any market or shopping mall nearby. The kids used to meet and play in the backyard when the men were out of their homes .
Mridul's mother was not highly educated but Sheel's mother was better than her sister in studies. She used to take care of her children's studies and homework etc. So Mridul and her brothers were sent to Sheel's house for tuition and this without the knowledge of both their respective husbands. On being reprimanded about her marks in class tests Mridul stopped coming to her aunt's place for studies sake. As things were not working for her in that place Mridul's mother decided that she should shift to the neighbouring city where her brother that is Mridul and Sheel's maternal uncle was staying . He would take care of Sheel's studies and also suggest a good match for Mridul as he had a huge contact base over there. So, both the girls moved to the nearby City. Sheel started her classes as she was preparing for Medical Entrance along with her maternal uncle 's daughter. Both of them were busy with these activities.
Sheel's uncle started looking for suitable matches for Mridul. But, with a lot of arrogance about her beauty she started rejecting most of them. This was a problem now. Finally they reached a stage where Mridul's parents had to coax her to get married to a groom who was okay in many aspects according to them. After the marriage got solemnised the real issues started between the couple. Mridul started grumbling about his looks, income and profession (he was a tailor) .The grumbling became more frequent. Meanwhile she gave birth to a daughter too. With a little bundle of joy she left her husband's house and reached her parents house citing the reason that she could not adjust with an ordinary looking man who was no match for her beauty. Inspite of her grandmother trying her convince her to go back to husband she was determined not to.
Her husband too tried his best to convince her to come back but in vain. Looking at her state of mind people understood how sometimes beauty takes over mind, or it was that feeling that one was more good looking will itself block how people look at things with limited reach. . The above narration gives us a message that beauty is not permanent it is how we think beautifully and make our and other's life beautiful making the real purpose of life worthy and lovely. But, the unfortunate result of one girl who had hangover about her beauty is that a simple, young man's life became miserable and chaotic for no mistake of his.
