BEAST: CHAPTER 1
BEAST: CHAPTER 1
NOTE: This story is based on Author’s fiction. It does not apply to any historical references. However, it’s based on real-life incidents, that happened in Bangalore during the year 1996.
CHITRADURGA, BANGALORE
Chitradurga is about 200 kilometers from Bangalore. A big district with a very historical past 150 years ago. In the beginning, it was an area with many forests and mountains. In fact, till today, it is a district with less population. In 1990’s they had only three police stations.
The police count was also less. At that time, case will not come often. In Chitradurga, a 35-years old Divya was working in a government job. She was a very good heart and very kind to everyone. She come by bus every day. When she get off the bus, she has to walk for about one kilometer from there and on both sides there was bushes.
After the bushes it was full of corn fields. If she walk along that road, no one can see her.
13 NOVEMBER 1996
10:45 AM
The time was exactly 10:45 AM in the morning. As usual, Divya got off the bus and started walking. It was only 2-3 days after Diwali. So all the jewels she wore for Diwali were still on her neck. When she was going through that mud road with no human traffic, suddenly someone behind her grabbed her hair and pulled her.
He closed Divya’s mouth and dragged her into the corn field and tore all her dresses like an animal. He started raping her. After that, he took her earing, nose pin and everything from her. He took in the sense, he didn’t ask her to remove the jewels and give it to him. He snatched everything from her noses and ears. So her nose and ear was torn.
After a while, a call came to the police station and when police Inspector Sanjay Kumar went there to see, Divya was lying in the ground unconsciously without any dresses on her.
In 1996’s, all the people in Bangalore were living very happily. Everyone was very relieved and doing their work. Bangalore was a paradise then. But all this started to change because of him.
In fact, we are putting a grill on the main gate for safety, right? That culture came because of him only. All the girls were afraid to step out of the house. It started to become a big fear not only in Bangalore but also in the whole of Karnataka. The way he attacked women was the same everywhere. They don’t know where he come from. But suddenly he come out from the bushes and drag the victim inside to kill them. But he won’t kill the victim in an easy way. He will kill them brutally like an animal. All the public and police, said that he is not a human being.
DECEMBER 6, 1996
6:00 PM
Not even a month has passed since the first incident. Since it is December, it get dark very early. On Friday, December 6, 1996, at six o’clock in the evening, a little girl called Pallavi went to a nearby flour mill. But the girl never came back. So immediately, her parents went to her friend’s house to find their daughter.
But she is nowhere. So Pallavi’s family members are wondering where she went. That road from her house to the flour mill, was a very small road with no street lights. The thing is, the girl went missing on 6th Friday. But her family made a complaint only on 7th. At that time, no one would come so early and file a police complaint. If there is any problem, they will solve it themselves. Hence, they filed a complaint to the police very lately.
TWO DAYS LATER
8TH DECEMBER 1996
After two days, Pallavi’s dead body was found. There is not even a small piece of cloth on her body. All the dress and underwear have been thrown on the nearby bushes and in her pant they found some semen.
The police thought, “2-3 people must have kidnapped and raped this girl.”
Since December is very cold and there is no sunlight, it slowed down the decomposition process of Pallavi’s body. Although she was killed on the same day, her body was still fresh and the police noted at the crime scene that there were blood wounds in Pallavi’s private part and there are blood wounds at the backside also. They note all this and send it to the autopsy.
The autopsy report came. It said: “Pallavi’s body has bruises in many places and he bited her very cruelly. The cause of death is suffocation. No strangulation, but instead of that, he kept her nose and mouth tightly packed. So without air entering the lungs, she died. At what level he suffocated her means, Pallavi’s inside lip is bleeding. Since her tooth tear and went through it. That much force he had given. Apart from that, bruises on her body denote that, she was fighting hard against the killer.”
Now a little girl was tortured by mysterious people and raped. This news was published in the newspaper. The people of Chitradurga had never heard of such a thing till that day. After hearing this, fear started forming among the people. Everyone started fearing for the safety of the girls and women in their house.
At the crime scene, Pallavi’s earing and anklet went missing. There will be a A1 mark above her anklet and the same mark will be there on her sister’s anklet also. Because both are bought from the same shop.
To find the killer with this anklet, the police started the investigation. But Sanjay can’t even find out whether the killer is a single or a gang rape. So the people started getting angry with the police department. Exactly at the same time, an unidentified letter came to Sanjay’s police station.
In that letter it’s said: “Rich boys are involved in Pallavi’s death and it was also written that the son of a professor and doctor is involved in this.” The police immediately prepared a list of the rich people in that area. They started investigating from that angle. But even then Sanjay could not go to the next step in this case.
Fed up, the people started complaining about Sanjay Kumar and his police department. They started getting very angry. So the government transferred Sanjay’s police team and appointed a new team to investigate this case.
The new police team under ACP Rahul’s head left that letter aside, and started investigating from another angle.
“Team. Were any other women been attacked in the same way?”
They have no idea about this. But, a constable suddenly remembered something and said: “Sir.” He raised his hands.
“Yes.” Rahul looked at him. He came near to him and said: “Sir. Before few months, a 35-year old Dhivya who got down from the bus was attacked and raped.”
After hearing that, he looked at his police team in vexation. In fear, they said: “Sorry sir. We didn’t know about it.”
Smoking his cigar, he said: “Because, her case was registered only as a case of theft at the police station.” Turning to the constable, he asked: “Is my guess correct sir?”
With fear in his throat, the constable said: “Yes sir.”
Sitting in the desk, he said: “That is why the case did not come to the attention of police.”
The next day, Rahul came to know about the third attack same like this from another victim, who is a milkman.
Two days before Pallavi went missing, that is, she disappeared on December 6th Friday. So two days ago, it was December 4th Wednesday, similarly another attack took place there. That too happened near the same place when she went missing and it was a milkman’s daughter.
But, Rahul decides to keep this as a secret information.
“Team. Don’t leak this information.” He instructed them.
Now, Rahul found the milkman and took him to the police station to interrogate him. At the beginning, he said: “No sir.” But after that, he agreed to it and started telling what happened that night.
“My daughter’s name is Geetha sir. She was working in a nearby company. After delivering milk to the nearby areas, at evening while going home, I will pick her up to my home.” He told what happened further.
DECEMBER 4, 1996
Likewise, on Wednesday evening, December 4, 1996, Geetha’s father was taking her home. Near a medical shop, he asked Geetha to go front so that he would buy some medicines and come after her. Now, she started walking alone in that path. While Geetha was walking on that way, she saw a man coming in front of her with a cap.
That person crossed Geetha and went normally. So she didn’t suspect anything and kept on walking. She kept walking as she believed that her father was following her.
As Geetha walked a few step forward. She felt someone is coming behind her. When she turned back and saw, she saw the same man she crossed was coming behind her. Her heart started beating fast and she started to fear.
Now she started running as she thought that he was following her. When Geetha was running, he also started running behind her and pulled her hair. Then, he started strangling her vocal cord.
Now he asked her, “Do you think you are smart to escape from me?” He pushed her down and closed her mouth. Now to fight against him, Geetha tried to grab his hair.
And when she tried, his cap fell down. So now Geetha tried to grab his hair. But there was no hair on his side head. Like that, he trimmed his hair like a military man. So his hair didn’t get caught on Geetha’s hand.
When she was struggling, by not knowing what to do, a noise of Geetha’s father coming is heard. When she came to know that her father is coming there, she got courage and slipped off from his hand. At the same time, her father saw this and started throwing stones on him.
PRESENT
“He got alert and ran into the nearby bushes in order to hide there sir. I and Geetha didn’t make it as a big issue.” Geetha’s father said.
To this, Rahul said by looking at his team: “It’s true that villagers will have this type of mentality only. Nothing happened to my daughter. We can be careful hereafter.” Looking at Geetha’s father he questioned: “Am I right sir?”
Inspector Rajesh Gowda from Rahul’s team said: “You are right sir. They keep this type of mindset and will not even come to the police station to avoid creating problems by giving complaints and leave it aside. Likewise only, Geetha and her father did.” Rahul convinced him to bring Geetha for investigation.
So Geetha’s father brought her to the police station and the police investigated her. Now she said: “The same exact thing as her father said.” But she said a thing which her father didn’t say.
She said to Rahul: “Sir. I saw him again.”
Shocked, Rahul asked her: “Where and when did you see Geetha?” But hearing what she said, all the police officers there was shocked. Because, her confession was unbelievable.
EPILOGUE AND CONTINUATION
“So what Geetha said and what happened next? We can see in the next chapter.”
