An Elegant Transgender
An Elegant Transgender
I was travelling to Delhi from Ahmedabad when I saw that lady who was sitting next to me in a sophisticated grey skirt accompanied by a light pink shirt and blazer. She was looking elegant in that attire. Her personality was magnetic and charismatic and anybody can get easily impressed by her. She was reading a novel and being a novel lover, I was curious to know the title of the book, but could not succeed, so in order to know the name of the book, I started a conversation with her, after a general talk I came to know that she was a ‘Transgender’ and it was difficult for me to digest as she was looking amazing. Her eyes were sparkling and furnished with blue eyeliner and her lips were painted with deep chocolate colour. She told me that she is associated with an MNC company as an Executive – Customer relation and was travelling to Delhi because of some official work. As the talk continues, I flooded her with lots of questions and she replied to me in a very polite manner, but one of my questions shattered her completely and she broke down into tears.
I asked, did you get recognization of your efforts at the workplace or in society. She kept quiet for 2 minutes, but my curiosity gets increases rapidly to know about each and everything. After a long pause, she replied it was tough to get recognized as nobody supports us like you ‘commoners’. Being highly educated is not a piece of cake for me to grab a job like others. I got this job after many obstacles. My qualification is much higher than this job. She added I am continuously tackling all these problems since the age of 14 years. Even my parents did not support me and my identity. They asked me to leave home when I was 15 years old and that moment was a heartbreaking moment for me. I left my home but I was captured by sex workers and they want to indulge me on that business but somehow I was succeeding to escape from there. My actual struggle started after that, I skirmish a lot for daily necessities, education, respect and many more. I was totally stunned to hear all this. My heart was mourning and thinking WE only are responsible for their condition and after listening to all this I took a resolution to help each and every transgender whom I met in my life span in every way. Let’s take one step together to make them realize they are also a part of our society.
