Once upon a time, King Akbar had gone to the outskirts along with his 5 men. On his return one of the ministers spotted a beautiful parrot, it had unique colors, King Akbar and his men followed the parrot to catch it and take to their court when they got lost in a jungle and also lost track of the parrot. It was getting dark and King Birbal was also very tired riding the horse following the parrot so he decided to return home and send his men tomorrow to this jungle to get hold of the beautiful parrot.

After strolling for sometime in the jungle, Akbar sighted a light coming from the other end. "It must be a small village at the other end, let's go and get some water" , King Akbar said in a parched voice.

King Akbar and his men reached the small village and waited at the entrance of a house as they requested for water. The house belonged to Birbal, he saw King Akbar and his men's tired and gasping (after riding the horse to follow the parrot), he immediately went to his house and returned with sugarcane juices for all.

King Akbar and all men started drinking the offered juices. After a while, Akbar thanked Birbal for his gesture and said, " The juice was very delicious but I couldn't enjoy it because each time I drank I had to stop and spit the black pepper powder. Had it not been for the pepper the drink would have been great and handed over some gold coins for helping them on return to their voyage".

Birbal first apologized to King Akbar and his men and said, " Dear Majesty, I am sorry for that but I sprinkled the pepper intentionally on the juices ( King and his men look in surprise), I noticed you and your ministers were very tired but also gasping and looked thirsty, had I offered the sugarcane juice plain, you all would have gulped in one instance and there were chances you all would have got chocked since you all were gasping so I had to sprinkle pepper to ensure you all enjoy the drink with your safety".

King Akbar was very happy with the wit of Birbal and praised him for his presence of mind. He offered him to be one of his advisors in the Royal court along with another pack of gold coins.

Birbal obliged and was seen the next day in Akbar's court as one of the advisors which marks the beginning of the wisdom tales of Birbal and Akbar.
