Ain’t I A person

William was a teen from New York who loved travelling and was overly cautious. He makes all the things in his life happen again and again. He checks a billion times whether he was doing right or wrong. Right now, he was touring Chicago.

Peter, another teen, was from Dallas and was the polar opposite of William. He doesn’t care about anything, and he tries adventurous stuff like bungee jumping from the cliff. They both were like fire and ice in their characters, but they met in the same restaurant, THE DOWNTOWN CHICAGO FISH RESTAURANT from which their lives completely changed.

The moment they saw each other, they had an emotional bonding as if they had known each other for seven lives and felt that they were meant to be together. William and Peter smiled at each other, exchanged their names and contact numbers, and started conversing as if they were best buddies. And after some time, they bid goodbye and casually left back to their homes.

A few days passed by, but both felt like meeting each other. But due to projects given by the college and with their participation needed for their grades, they needed to go to the international college showcase happening in Geneva, Switzerland.

They both decided to meet once the School Fair was over in Geneva’s City centre mall. But they did not know that both New York & Dallas colleges booked the same hotel for their students.

After checking into the hotel, they both went to their respective rooms and worked on their projects until the evening. It was dinner time; both stopped their work and came out of their rooms simultaneously in a hurry to finish their

dinner. From two different directions in the dining room, they reached a single table, kept their plates, and looked at each other.

At that instance, for a few minutes, they were speechless and started crying out of joy. They started chitter-chatter talking and laughing out loud.

Then to spoil their happiness, the guys sitting next to their table started teasing William about his appearance and how they communicated with each other. The guy made Peter mad, and Peter punched the bully in the nose. The bully’s friend stopped by saying, “Guys, we came for the project, don’t mess up here with our attitude. We may lose our grades, let us move on”, and they went.

After they left the place, Peter said to William, “We should not care about our appearance; we should care about only how kind we are in our hearts, let us also focus on our science fair.”

 

The Science fair went smoothly, they both did an excellent job, and they started their journey back to Geneva Airport. They went to a coffee shop at the gates and ordered a cappuccino coffee; William and Peter were so deep in their conversations; William eventually proposed to Peter in the middle of the conversation. In reply, Peter said one word, “YES.” That one word made the person who served the coffee so angry, to show hatred against ‘Gays’ he kept salt in their coffee and served it to them.

Peter yelled, “WHAT IS THE MEANING OF THIS.”

The waiter replied, “I did this to show hatred for you, Gays.”

 

 Fortunately, the airport security officer was nearby. He warned the coffee shop owner not to show any discrimination or else the airport security would cancel his hotel license.

As the announcement came, they both went back to their respective cities, and this incident made them take a life-changing decision: ‘staying together.’

They had a big fight with their parents to accept their relationship. But do you think their marriage went smoothly? Do you think life after their marriage was smooth? And do you think they had a safe place to live? Do you believe their workplace was friendly to them?

The answer to these questions is a BIG NO.

They encountered many problems, yet they had one thing in common: trust and love for each other. Their compassion for each other made them fight the stereotyped society. Overcoming all the hurdles and making memories, they led happy life.
