Grandpa Surya was a popular figure at Vivekananda Street. He had begun his career as an upper primary teacher in Angul. At that time, he was a brawny young man full of unparalleled enthusiasm and tremendous willpower. An ambitious young fellow, his towering dreams overlapped with his teaching job. He was only an average matriculate. His father Gourgopal was considered a wastrel.

Now, Surya's son Mukteshwar Mohanty was in a terrible ticklish mess. He and his wife were crying every moment about what their son had done. Mukteswhar's wife Shivapriya could never accept it that his multi-talented genius son Sambit was going to blacken their faces and the good name of their family. They were particularly worried about the old man, I mean, Suryanarayan who had cruised into largescale publicity because of his clean political image and humanitarian commitments. Mukteshwar would boast to his wife about his father's achievements: "My father is just another Lord Ramachandra...! He never misappropriated a single rupee out of the government treasury even though he served as the State's finance minister two times. But what had the boy done...? Nobody knew anything about it except his parents.

Nobody had the courage to approach the Principal of NARESHNATH PUBLIC SCHOOL and demand an explanation on what had in fact happened on 31 April with her. Mukteswar was boiling with anger. Sambit was a sturdy boy of sixteen studying in Class--11. He was the most talented boy in the entire class including all Class 11 sections. Mukteshwar said to his wife, "If my boy has raped that bitch, why doesn't she lodge a complaint with the police ...?She is such a magnanimous soul...!Forgave my son...? Now the whole school looks down upon my innocent child.

He is a criminal in their eyes. Men, women, and children discuss the rumor as a true case of rape....! Just think what will be my father's mental condition...O Lord kill the bitch..."

Mukteshwar's wife said, "If my child had a dirty intention to rape her, why didn't he choose a classmate girl..? When girls are vying with each other to befriend him...?My poor child...! What will my parents think ..?How are they going to react..!"

The news is spreading at the speed of lightning.

Mukteshwar's wife Shivapriya was worried about her son. The woman from Kerala Savitha Nambiar, the school's Principal had not lodged any case against them. When she was thus immersed in her thinking, her neighbor Rosie came and chatted about her dreadful mother-in-law who didn't allow her any freedom. Shivapriya couldn't contain the dreadful secret allegation against her son gnawing at her heart continually. She narrated in detail how Savitha Nambiar had been rigid in her demand to expel her son from the school.

Rosie said, "The lady is a very difficult one. She talks to parents in a very rough and rude way. My mister met her a week ago and told her about our Subbu facing difficulty in English. She even didn't give him a look."

"Subbu is still going to her...?"

"Going to her...? You think I have lost my wits...?

I told Subbu's father not to panic. My aunt gave me the number of a good English tutor. In reality, the best English tutor in the city...His English is simply superb!"

I also want my child to take English lessons. But he says he will handle English on his own."

Rosie said with emphasis, "Never send Saambi to her. We want children to imbibe good manners.."

Subbu who had reached there commented," She teaches us taking help from YouTube. She also shouts at us when someone asks her a question. She is a perfect devil.."

"Subbu I don't like you saying that....! Go to your study and complete the maths homework. This boy will never allow me a minute's peace. ...Whenever you look at him, he is glued to that dratted mobile phone...!These online classes are a curse ..." said Rosie.

When Mukteshwar looked at the morning paper he was perplexed to see the headline: Class 11 Boy Molests Principal. This might be a very strange case for people but Mukteshwar's heart began bleeding. Sambit's name didn't figure but that was no consolation. People would soon know.

Mukteshwar and his wife felt it necessary to sort it out with the Principal. They called her to fix an appointment. She refused to meet them and didn't allow them to talk further. This turned each one of Mukteshwar's family into a steaming furnace. People gathered and marched to the school to vandalize it. Mukteshwar's family barged into the school complex giving some smart slaps to the security guard who was quaking with fear seeing Old Surya whose revengeful crimes hardly deserved any exposure. The old politician struck the Principal's table furiously and spat into a corner. His eyes bulging out from intense dislike and rage, he thundered, "Who do you think you are.

...!Trying to lord it over us? Mind you, you don't know how I can get justice. You will leave this city forthwith.."

The bespectacled Principal said, "Please stop fuming at me, Sir. You say your grandson is innocent. You are compelling me to do something I strongly disagree with. Please look at the CCTV footage, you can know.."

Old Surya, his son Mukteshwar and daughter-in-law Shivapriya were stunned and speechless. They could scarcely believe the video clip. They blushed with deep shame and stark embarrassment.

The Principal who had withdrawn from her chair resumed her seat and said, "Now you are confirmed of your child's innocence..? No further talk...Out of here...Now..!"

The old politician wanted to be assured she would not report the case to the police and discredit his longstanding reputation and his grandson's prospective career. She told them she was not going to do anything of the sort they fancied but refused to destroy the evidence. This was because a politician's word could never be taken into trust. He might take on a different colour after the evidence got extinct.

An old churlish Surya walked out of the Principal's office without conveying a word of gratitude to the noble lady. Mukteshwar and his wife walked after him foolishly. On coming out of the school compound, Old Surya boasted, "She will be made to mar the evidence."

Some media persons approached them and bravely shouted questions at them. The politician roared some angry expletives at them. They entered their car and vanished. People knew that Sambit could hardly keep his hand off girls. It was also known he was armed with his grandfather's strength.

They arrived home shortly. The old man was screaming harsh comments at his son and daughter-in-law. They had to be blamed for not giving the right breeding to the boy. Shivapriya had smelled the secret of her mother-in-law's sudden demise. That was before she got married to his son. But she preferred silence to vouchsafing anything that might ruffle her father-in-law's temper.

At home, Old Surya flew into a long spell of fury and chastised his depraved grandson calling him a dog and the black sheep of the family.

When Surya was thus passing through a critical phase, to his grave peril, out came in the papers a lurid account of his love affair with a lady doctor two-thirds of his age. The circumstances were such that the lady doctor's husband had to commit suicide out of extreme depression. Later it was proved that Old Surya and the lady doctor had been involved in the murder of the innocent husband. The people were offering their praise to God profusely the day the lady doctor and her paramour were arrested and put behind bars.
