Chapter 1:

“You’ve been getting ready since the past hour, Anne! Hurry up!”said Patrick. He was sick and tired of his wife taking so long. “Coming, darling.”said his wife Tami. She came down hurriedly while wearing her earrings. They left in a hurry and slammed the door behind them. They soon sat in their car and drove away. “Are we there yet? It’s taking a long time, isn’t it?” Said Tami. Patrick didn’t reply. He knew they had reached. “Hi Sandeep! Congratulations for your baby! Awwww how cute he is!” Said Tami. They had fun in the party until they decided to leave. Patrick told his wife that he’d go take the car out and she could wait inside the party. As Patrick went outside, he got an eerie feeling like somebody was following him. But he just ignored it and continued walking. As he reached his car, he sat inside and started the engine.

Chapter 2:

The engine was not working properly. So Patrick decided to go and look for a mechanic somewhere near that area. Although it was pretty deserted, and Patrick knew that, he still continued walking. Suddenly, he reached a forest and when he called his friend he told him that the mechanic lived in a house in the middle of the woods. He found this odd, but sustained to move on. He realised that now he didn’t know where he was. He called out “Hello? Is there a mechanic here?” He got no answer. He gave up and sat down on a log kept there in a corner. He sighed and sat down with a thud. “Are you lost, kind sir?” Said a man behind him. Patrick jumped a little. “Yes, actually. I’ve been looking for a mechanic.” Patrick exclaimed. “Yes ,as a matter of fact, I can

lead you up to the mechanic’s place. Only, if you want. Because in this dead a night, nobody can find their way home.” Patrick was skeptical on going with this man. But it was late and he just wanted to go home now. He started walking with the man. For some reason all the lantern in his hand did was light the path and never showed the mysterious man’s face. But all Patrick cared about was getting his car fixed.

Chapter 3:

They started talking to each other about their families. Turns out the man lived in Hijadgunj, a place near to his. He lived with his daughter, Shrimati and mother, Lilavati. Every time Patrick tried to ask him about why he was in this forest at this late hour, the man seemed to always dodge this question and change the topic. The man was rather entertaining and energetic seeming what time of day it was. They talked about what they both did to earn a living. “Saabji, I am a poor watchman at the mechanic’s house which is why only I can lead you to his house. What do you do?” “Nothing much. Have you heard about the company Network Heroes? I am the CEO of that company” said Patrick. He was quite proud of himself. “Waah Saabji! A charming job to a charming man.” The man exclaimed. Finally, Patrick asked the man when they were about to reach. He said that it had just been 5 minutes since they had started. Patrick was rather surprised.

Chapter 4:

They continued walking and Patrick started to feel awkward. He started to walk on his own from this point. “You must never be left alone in these woods anything I say anything can happen.” This scared Patrick a little. Anyway, he still walked alongside the mysterious man. The man told him they were about to reach the mechanic’s place. He also told him that their arrival was set for 5 mins.

Chapter 5:

Finally, they had reached. After countless minutes and to Patrick what seemed like hours. He requested the man to at least show him his face so that he could thank him. But the man simply refused and said he would when the “time was right”. What did that mean? He went inside the house. Nobody inside the house. It didn’t look like the house of a mechanic. It smelled of dead bodies and mice. For some reason he was attracted to go inside the house. As he went inside, the man said “ Now’s the right time.” The man began to bring the lantern closer to his face. His face was burnt and dissolved from his left. Patrick didn’t think for a second and ran outside the house and never looked back. He reached his car after what seemed like days of running. He told his wife they had to leave. His wife sat in the car without questioning because she knew he was serious. He pushed the car and it started. They reached home and without saying anything went to sleep. While he was sleeping he saw that same man in his mirror. He decide to never speak about this again.
