A Mother's Love

"Yeahhh!!" I shouted and was overwhelmed after seeing my birthday gift. One of the gifts that I always wanted. Finally I had received it from my friends. Yes, they were a pair of Love birds in a small cage. That night I just kept thinking about my new family members, my birds! While I was lying on my bed, I had already planned hundreds of things for them. And as per my plans, my Dad helped me in executing them one by one for my birds. Initially, we brought a bigger size cage for them and eventually we fixed nests for them in that cage. Finally, we shifted this pair of Love birds from the smaller cage to the new large size cage. They two seemed to be very happy in their new world and I felt this when I observed the way they were flying all around. I could see the happiness in them.

One fine day as usual in the morning when I went near the cage to keep some food grains for them to eat, I heard little bit of chirping sound from one of the nest. I saw carefully and found that there were three new baby birds. Our love birds had given birth to three new cute baby birds. I was so happy that my happiness knew no bounds. With this excitement and joy I started preparing nests for these new birds too. They were 2 male and 1 female baby birds of these 3. As days and months passed, 2 out of the 3 baby birds began to fly and jump all around in the cage. I was stunned after seeing that the female bird was not able to fly even half a meter high in the cage after so many months. May be their mother knew that the life span of this female bird was not much as it was of her other two male babies. Eventually, even we came to know that this female baby bird had some problems by birth itself. Inspite knowing that her child wouldn't survive more the mother of this female baby took utmost care of her. I personally witnessed this as I had seen the way she used to feed her baby daily. She tried teaching her baby to fly but this female bird simply couldn't. And in all this one fine day, the female baby bird passed away. That day all the other birds in the cage were silent but the mother of this female bird was making a lot of noise. I could feel her pain then as even I was attached to these love birds by then.

And I realised that be it a human being or any other animal, a mother's Love for her child will always be unconditional. This mother bird took care of her child till her last breath. We humans often fail to understand the feelings and emotions of these dumb animals but eventually they teach us a lot in life. Here's a small message for all of us and that is as we take care of each other, let's also take some care of the animals and birds of atleast those in our nearby surroundings.
