A Man, A Chicken, A Weird Family

A heavy storm hits the area of kamalapuram.no moon..no stars..the clouds filled the sky like a blanket.the wind was too strong even the oldest and the largest trees would dance the moves to the rhythm of the wind. 

The road is filled with tree branches broken from or carried away in the wind is blocking all the routes to the kamalapuram,but a man with a brown jacket wearing a bag on his

shoulder,riding a bicycle,tearing through the wind like a rocket tearing through the sky into space..as the wind becomes stronger ,heavier becomes the rain,harder becomes the ride.he starts to lose balance but still manages it wiping his face from the rain pouring on his face blocking his view.he regains his balance and starts to ride again.

The road,streets,were all empty.not even a symptom of life to be seen.it looks like another planet.abandoned wasteland.as he was riding faster his phone rang.he often looks back as he was riding.he takes the phone in one hand to see who it was balancing the cycle in the other.

Then he stops the cycle and looks at his phone.it was his mother.he hesitates

for a bit.the phone keeps ringing.and then he answers the call.he couldn't hear the voice her voice keeps breaking.he says he is fine and he is at the center of nowhere and he is on the way home and will reach by midnight or early morning and asks her to take her tablets without fail..he then stops looks down.tells her again that he wanted to tell her something.phone fell into the water slipping from his hand.he then picks it up and wipes to see the screen is off.he then notices a light.he shrinks his eyes to find a house.he looks up seeing the lighting and thunder coming up indicating the storm is gonna get intense.he rides towards her house.

He parks the cycle outside the fence,.pushes the wooden door and starts to walk towards the house.as he walks,he could hear the animals from the shed were crying in fear. He could identify animals from their voice,like sheeps,hens,dogs,cats,birds..

On coming near the door.he wipes his face and adjusts his dress and his hair and knocks on the door.

John parks his bike inside the fence.takes the box,carries it towards the house.all the animals in the house seems to be disturbed about something.they sensed something was wrong..everything in the cage cries in agony and fear..even the fishes in the tank starts to act weird jumping off here and there in panic.

John slowly carries the box,holds it tight now,reaches the door and knocks.

Maria, a young lady in her late 20’s but she looks younger and more beautiful.she is john's wife who is older than her by 20 years.she cares of her youth all the time caring for her skin and food she eats and her looks and her dress she wear,she really hates john for not having a good Relationship both physically and emotionally which every women ever needs from a man,a support her other half but she never felt john as a half but a stranger in her life..their intimacy in bed never last more than 2 minutes.

She opens the door and welcomes him.before she closes she checks outside,it was the wind blowing heavier and it starts to get stronger with a light thunder rumbling and lighting streaks.the drizzling of rain falls on her before she closes the door.

John keeps the box at the center of the table.drags a chair and sits and asks her wife to call the others.She calls out for her son.

A small boy comes with a toy dinosaur in hand speaking to himself.he is far more intelligent than all of them but others who are less intelligent than him look at him calling him as mentally unstable to show off their power over him.but he doesn't care. He has a special characteristics that,if he hears a conversation he will pick up words from it and keeps repeating those words, murmuring it continuously to himself,.sometimes it makes others angry but his parents doesnt bother him..if they tried he would become aggressive.so they left him on his won.

a girl in her early teens comes to the hall with a stick in hand,she is blind.but not born blind but a disease that once spread caused most of the children lose their senses.for her she lost sight.some say it was the disease caused by the nomads others says it was curse.but still there was no cure no doctor or even shamans could find.

When everyone gathers around and sits at the chair.joh now gets up walks towards the next room.opens to find to find his mom laying in bed.she is sick living and breathing to her last days.she could talk but only her heavy breathing sound is heard.he walks towards her kiss on her forehead.at first the breathing was weird for everyone but then they got used to the continuous breathing sound.

The family sat around the table.

John now takes the letter that was stuck to the box with a tape.he opens the cover to find a paper and starts to read it.

ORDERS OF THE OCCULT

1.A wish for a life 

2.Apply blood all over it.

3.you must drink the blood of the bearer.

Now there was a tension in the room.everyone felt silent and full of questions..the boy now starts to repeat the word..wish..life..blood..drink..wish..life..blood..drink..

John breathes out and opens the box.everyone now looks inside.it was a chicken..a normal white chicken.

Joh now looks at everyone and starts to explain,if we do as per the given instructions,we will get what we wished for from the chicken.

At first the chicken must lay an egg.for that egg to have a life we have to give it something or someone..wife asks if we should kill someone,.john says yes.we have to make the chicken drink the blood of the deceased. Both the children now shake in fear.Second we have to soak the egg with the blood of the deceased.now third we have to kill the chicken after and drink its blood and pour that blood over the egg again..now the egg will contain the power to grant our wish.

There is silence in the room.when john asks them if they understand everything.

everyone nods their head like they understood everything that he says.the boy started murmuring the words to himself saying gold..egg..gold..egg..dad and mom looks at each other..they are shocked to hear those words from his mouth.they don't know how could he know what they kept as a secret.john then breaks the secret telling that..yes..we are gonna get gold and will make a fortune it can save us from our miserable life..bring eyesight to girl child…small boys schooling…mothers treatment..wife’s fancy life..so i wish for a gold.

Maria brings a nest that she made from the kitchen keeps it on the table.john slowly picks up the chicken,keeps it in the nest.the chicken makes sound and then adjusts itself in the nest.now everyone looks at the chicken which closes its and sleeps.

There was a knock on the door

everyone starts to panic.now everyone looks at john.john holds their hand and calms them down and asks them not to make any sound.

He slowly gets up,walks towards the door,lighting outside reveals a figure outside through the glass.he takes his hand towards the door in panic and opens the door.

It was the stranger.the man in the cycle.john asks who he is?.The stranger tells him he is on his way home but the storm is too strong and he needs a place to rest for the night.he asks john if he could provide him shelter and as soon as the storm passes she will leave.

John looks back at everyone and at the storm and the rain.he knows he will invite him in..he couldn't resists helping people..that is weakness every help he didnt made him what he is now..his downfall..everyone is because of the help he made to people..but still he hesitates and looks at the stranger soaked in rain ,thinks for a minute and agress welcoming the stranger to his house.

The stranger thanks him and gets in the house.he looks around greeting everyone and smiles at maria,but she walks back to the kitchen without looking at him.

Stranger looks around the house and he stops when a breathing sound is heard. John tells him it's his mother who is in the bed.feeling weird with the things and the breathing noise,the smell,spider,cobs everywhere.maria comes back with a towel and hot tea in hand.he drank the tea and dried himself up.

On giving the cup back their finger touches over each other.maria gives him a strange look and walks back to the kitchen.john asks maria to prepare dinner including the stranger .john walks the stranger to the bathroom to get changed to a dried dress which he hands him his and to freshen up.stranger thanks again for their hospitality,and looks at kitchen.

Everyone gathered around for.john picks up a bread piece,the small boy feeds the food to his toy ,the girl tries to eat the food without spilling..the stranger helps the girl to find.john asks the stranger about himself.

stranger eats the food in his mouth.drinks water and starts to tell that he is widow who lost his wife a year back,has a mother in a town nearby who is ill now,that is where he was going but unfortunately was stopped by the storm.he then continues telling that his father and brother died in the epidemic 

He works in the steel company in the city,where he is staying alone for now and gives a look at maria.there was a large sound of thunder with heavy lighting. The chicken gets up from the nest,jumps and knocks on the wooden floor where there was food spilled on the floor,and knocks the floor again, eating the remains.

It keeps knocking on the floor.john slowly gets up,picks up the chicken,gives it a gentle rub,slowly places it on the nest. Then he was back again in his place.the stranger asks,why is this chicken inside the house and not outside with the others.

Everyone was shocked at the stranger asking the question.John says it is not well.but it also looks different not like the usual chicken says the stranger. The small boy says gold..gold..treasure..egg..gold.. stranger didn't seem to notice it.but there was a tension at the table as what if,the stranger comes to know or already knows about the chicken.

John looks at strangers' faces but there was no change or any reaction .He keeps eating the food.john calms down before he could say something a heavy thunder strikes nearby diverting all their attention.stranger was given a sheet and a pillow at the sofa to take rest while others rested above.the stranger slept with the noise of the breathing.now he is used to it.

It was past midnight.the clock rings every hour and now it rings when the hand strikes at two.there is silence in the house after the clock strikes.john not able to sleep,feeling something was off,he gets up from his bed goes to the bathroom.

On his way out he could hear some noise in the neighbouring room as if someone was whispering.he thinks it's his son who used to sleepwalk at night sometimes or will have a nightmare.so he walks with a candle to calm him down. John stops on hearing Maria's voice.he stops and hears what she was saying..he could catch the words like chicken egg,treasure,escape,run..something like that.john blows the candle off and slowly walks towards the room to find the stranger and maria were making love.john could see they were undress and he could see two bodies as one in the moonlight.

When John comes in,the stranger stops and gets down from bed towards his dress where Maria tries to cover her body with the bedsheet.

John's eyes filled with tears and anger was raging in him on knowing Maria's betrayal and thinking of her plan to elope with the stranger with the chicken and the egg.john was so angry but not with maria but on stranger on changing her mind,corrupting her.

Johns anger is now at the peak.he now walks towards the stranger with a cricket bat of his son's.seeing this the stranger starts to run away to the hall.john ow runs towards the stranger hitting him.with each hit some falls on stranger some gets missed hitting the objects at house breaking things,photo frames hung on wall,antique pieces,clock..the whole house were in chaos like the earthquake that once shook the place,breaking everything except their life..now the life is broken so does the things that it home.

Maria tries to stop john telling him to leave the stranger alone and not to do anything stupid.son gets up from his room and looks at his dad running with dad chasing stranger and mom chasing dad ,thinking of it as a game he starts running following them.

The girl comes out with the stick,the boy asks her to run for the game,she runs with the stick hitting all over the place following the sound of them running. John,as he runs,picks up things from the house whatever he sees and starts throwing things at the stranger.

Maria cries, pleading John that it was a mistake.the son runs following them making sounds. They were running all over the house.the blind girl stick moves all over which the stranger escapes from the hit,but the stick which fell on john and maria.they cried in pain.the boy enjoys the game..the running.there was complete chaos.

John stops at a point knowing that stranger was missing.he runs back again. Suddenly there was a large thud sound in the ground floor with a chicken sound along with it.

John runs down and notices the chicken was not disturbed but he could see the stranger lying on the floor with blood. John then finds out,the stranger slips away in chicken poop and hits the sink to the head. John approaches the stranger's body as checks for the pulse, finding none; he looks at his wife ,and tells her the man is dead.

a breathing sound fills the room.john and maria looked at each other.

Now the boy shouts..dead…dead..dead…maria closes the boys mouth to which he jumps to get away..but she told his mouth tight..john sits at a chair not knowing what to do.maria is crying in the corner.son sits on the dead body of the stranger and

plays with it saying dead..dead... the blind girl still going around the house in circles hitting wherever she goes on the first floor.john and maria failed to notice their children.but they were in shock.

john gets up from the chair.goes to the basement.pick up the tools.removes the wooden flooring with hammer taking out the nails.diggs out the sand.places the body inside.covers with mud.again closes it with the wooden flooring.it is clean as new.

The chicken jumps from the nest and knocks on the floor.John picks it up and places it in its nest,he thinks it must be hungry and keeps the food near its nest. a day passed.everyone tried to get back to normal.but the boy keeps saying dead..dead..maria looks at the floor where the dead body lay under their feet..the girl now became fond of new game start running around…john keeps looking outside the window looking if there is anyone coming here..but still trying to act normal.the chicken gets down

knocking on the floor.maria picks it up.places it on its nest,keeps food.but the food is never touched..

Two days later.there was a knock on the door.maria opens the door shocked to see cops standing at her doorway.she calls john trembling in fear.john asks her to go in and looks back at the cops again and asks them if there is any problem.

one of the cop asks if they could come in and take a look around.he agrees and shows the around.the other cops shows them a photo asking if they have seen him.he gets the photo it is the stranger in the picture..he said no without hesitation.the son enters from the room saying dead..dead..dead.. there was also a breathing noise coming from inside.police looks at from here.john says,it is his mother who is in her death bed as his son is close to her grandmother so he feels sorry for her..also he said to them the words that he never wished he could tell,he even hates when people tell him that,that is his son is mentally unstable..he felt disgusted thinking about what he has done.but he has to.he has got no choice.

One of the cops says that his bike was found nearby.john says it must be a mistake that it is here.the cops was about to leave,the chicken jumps and knocks on the floor again.john says it is not well.

The cop bent down to pick it up and place it in the nest,that is when he noticed a small blood stain in wood.he called the other officer. They ask John to open the wooden floor. At first he hesitates and then agrees. Maria felt like choking..John started to sweat more. digs the mud out.finds the body with the smell making everyone nauseated.

They take the body out,place it aside.the small boy sits on the body,plays with it.

The cops pick up the small boy and lock him and the blind girl in the next room.

As they pick up the body,they felt something unusual.cops puts his hand in a stranger's pocket.finds an egg soaked with his blood.he keeps the egg aside on the table and takes the body to the ambulance.The chicken now jumps from its place and sits on the blood egg where it was placed.

John tries to connect everything that the stranger got to know about the egg and chicken,the gold from maria and when he was about to run with the egg he fell down sleeping from the poop and died. 

John sees this and signals something to maria.cops tells to john that the dead man is a serial killer who is charged for multiple murders.that he won't be charged for murder but he will be taken to the court to tell his side of the story..John now gives a smile to Maria and the cops take him away. John shows something as three to Maria and leaves.

maria doesn't know what it is.small boy shouts blood...blood…chicken blood...maria remembers now.it was the blood of the chicken that must be drunk as the third step as other two steps has been done with.one with the death of the stranger and two with the blood of stranger with the egg.she has to do the third one now.maria now slowly looks at the chicken. The chicken jumps off the place,tries to run outside.he was about to get out,the old lady who was in bed,closes the door,has a big knife in her hand.

she laughs with a cough.. coughs too much with just a smile.. Maria also laughs..everyone in the house laughs..the boy..the girl..clock rings..the chicken widens its eyes...

The old lady says it's time to get my son back..
