Veil Of The World
Veil Of The World
I'm a beginning without an end.
I come from millennium's past
And belong to eternity.
I roll and roar,
In crests and troughs,
An eternal motion.
I swell in pride,
And move from deep water to peaking waves,
In transition.
Seeing a shore up ahead I soften into breakers,
And spray my salty white foam on virgin beaches.
I'm silver or gold,
Bathed in moonlight or sunshine.
Cyan or aquamarine,
And at times a midnight blue.
Phytoplankton and algae
Turn me green.
And on a moonless night
I'm a bewitching black,
Mysterious and frightening.
My myriad moods cast a spell,
I gently lap under a still sky,
I lash the rocks when the moon calls.
Deep within, my master dictates
And I serve his commands.
The protector of the ocean world,
Its secrets below.
Concealing its treasures
From greedy eyes.
Constantly in turmoil
To ensure peace within
For millions of living things.
The rainforests of the ocean,&n
bsp;
The coral reefs.
I hide two million unclassified species.
And almost 230 million known ones.
I nourish, I nurture.
I converse with the clouds,
Whispering my tales to their keen ears.
They thunder back in response
And I rise to the tempo.
Love, longing,
Tears, regret...
people share everything with me.
I hear their prayers and songs.
I calm their burning hearts
And spray some love.
I tell them I have tears too,
Taste my woes.
But I won't tell.
Open your arms, I shall embrace you with grace.
Leave behind a memory for you
To calm you in turbulent times.
My tiny mementos you can take back,
And when you are wistful or sad,
Put your ear to my sea shell.
And softly I'll murmur my stories from deep beneath,
And show you sights
From across the horizon.
I'm the waves of time,
The force of life,
That undefined,
Immeasurable,
Inexplicable,
Unending,
Incomprehensible idiom,
A challenge to mankind.
