Cause We Are Girls

Cause We Are Girls

I always miss my dear freedom

B'cause I know I can never have it

Cause I know I can never taste it

Cause I know I can never kiss it.

I always have to miss my dear freedom

Cause I am born as a girl

Cause I am born in India

Cause I belong to a culture

Where my dear freedom

Probably you don't love us,

Most probably you hate us.

Why my dear freedom,

What is our mistake?

Is it because we are girls?

Is it because we are brown?

  Mother, whom I should blame?

Freedom or you?

On whom we should haff except you?

You are independent Mother,

You are the abode of democracy,

Then, Mother, can you tell me

Why we, your children are not free here?

We, girls, are, too your children, right?

Then why in your democracy

Our voice is suppressed?

Why in your abode we are not allowed

To roam anywhere we wanted?

Why mother? Why we are insulted

As the less intelligent?

Why we are not allowed to

Educate ourselves as much as they are?

Why we are not allowed to

Marry whom we want?

Why we are considered as the domestic help

Who has no world outside?

Why mother? Why we are treated as objects?

As if we're the subjects of your other children!

Why mother? why this discrimination?

Why this business?

Mother, I'm telling you

We shouldn't be taken for granted.

We also have a soul, a distinct entity

Which longs for freedom since birth.

We also have power mother,

We also have intelligence mother,

We don't deserve to be insulted.

Mother, I'm telling you

The day is not far when we girls

Will awake,

The day is not far when we girls

Will revolt.

The flame within us will be ignited

Very soon,

And will turn into the funeral pyre

Of your beloved patriarchy.

That day Mother,

No one will be able to extinguish it

Neither you nor us.
