I was busy finding the right answer for everything,

You taught me no answers were wrong,

For you didn't just love literature,

You prompted it through us every day.

 

I looked at it just as an assignment,

You turned it into inquisitiveness

To know and to understand

In a way, I had never thought of before.

 

I was told that I was not old enough to understand,

I was told that I was too young to be considered,

It was within the walls of your classroom

And within the cocoon of your love, that I felt limitless.

I was allowed to share my opinions,

I was allowed to talk about my fears,

I knew I had a voice that mattered,

I knew you will always lend me an ear….

 

Every Teachers’ Day I cherish the mark you left in my life that time can’t wipe,

You have taught me lessons that will always echo in my heart.

Your words will always stay etched in my memories,
