TO A FLOWER
TO A FLOWER
I glimpsed a pretty bloom
Shaded in robust red
And painted solitary against
The expanse of the pale blue sky;
It seemed to me that the flower
Was out of place there:
And yet there it was -
A splash of passion
Shattering the calm;
The husky red was more
In tune with the dusky
Brown of Mother Earth:
And yet there it was -
Silhouetted against the heights;
It seemed to me that
Even the lowest of the low
Could climb to a
Lonely pinnacle of glory;
And so it was that
This sight made surge in me
An endless, eternal
Healthy hope for humanity.
