The One And Only Mr. Gregory

Once there lived a man,

Who wrote a humorous story.

Yes, his name was Mr. Ivan Gregory,

And his story was his glory.

He had dark blue eyes,

And short brown hair.

His nose was very long,

And his complexion was fair.

He recited his funny story,

To all the kids in the neighborhood.

They all laughed and laughed and laughed.

And told him the story was pretty good.

Mr. Gregory decided to publish his story,

But he hesitated a little bit.

Because he needed an editor,

To fix grammatical errors in it.

He went to visit an editor,

And asked him to edit his work.

The editor gladly accepted that and said,

“Sure, sir, but in advance, I want a buck.”

Mr. Gregory reached out to his pocket,

And gave him a dollar.

Then he went back to his house,

And stiffened his collar.

After two whole weeks of waiting,

And four days, to be precise.

Mr. Gregory went to collect the edited story,

And to give the editor the price.

Mr. Gregory went to visit the editor,

And asked him in a hoarse voice.

“Mr. Flannigan, I am Mr. Ivan Gregory

Are you finished editing my story?

“The Hungry Tomato” is my story

And it is my glory.”

The editor quickly replied, 

“I don't know anybody named Ivan!

And, which story are you talking about?

Get out of here in one!”

“Not so easily, Mr. Flannigan.

You are so cunning.

Nowhere, nowhere, nowhere.

Nowhere, I am running!” 

“I am sorry if I have lost your work,

Hey you, Mr. Ivan Gregory!

See, there’s a very bad matter.

I have lost my memory.”

Mr. Gregory thought for a bit,

And then came up with a plan.

To test if Mr. Flannigan was saying the truth,

Or was it just a prank?

He asked, “Mr. Flannigan.

I am so sorry.”

Big matter, this is

No need to worry.”

Then from his pants’ pocket,

He took out his mobile.

And dialed a phone number

That reached out to Dr. Kyle.

He said, “Doc, long time no see,

See, I have a very special project.

An Amnesia patient,

You must inject.”

The editor looked pale,

His eyeballs turned up and down.

His face turned nervous,

He began to frown.

“Stop, hey, mister.

Don’t be a barrister.

Take your story and go away,

You are cray-cray.”

Mr. Gregory smiled and put down the phone,

And watched the grumpy editor groan.

After Publishing The Story 

Mr. Gregory's story then, 

Made a big hit.

It became an international bestseller,

In no bit.

See, lying is no aspect,

It will only have a bad effect.
