The Child Within Me

In my mind, the sky still retain the mysteries of the universe,

The rain still evokes that thirst for dance,

The weepy willows still give me the jitters,

And the flowers still seem to throw me their playful glance.

I can still feel the pulse of nature,

Still manage to smile back at the smiling faces,

Still manage to sing a song or two impromptu,

And eat sweets guilt-free without fretting over tooth decay.

I still manage to feel blessed for my mere existence,

Still believe in peaceful co-existence,

Still happy with sweet nothings,

And still sometimes cry for the moon, cry over trifle things.

I still rely on the stars for miracles,

I can still calmly speak about my life's debacle.

I still play hide-and -seek with life,

I still put lipstick, mascaras with pride.

I still seek answers for questions 

I still work to leave a mark,

I still have the courage to fail,

And fall flat in my face.

I am not a know-all fool,

I am still learning the art of living,

My heart still beats,

In accordance to life's maddening rhythm.

I am not a chubby cheeks nor a blue eyes,

But am a child too,

Living life by practicing,

The life principles of a child.
