Fireflies

 

The humongous black mass of darkness,

Engulfing earth post eventide,

Augment the fear already present in the heart of the faint hearted.

The redeemer of such nights, the fireflies,

Engage in an exuberant luminous dance,

Flickering hope, dreams, and romance.

 

The fireflies fly and glow, glow, and fly,

Piercing the labyrinth of darkness,

Unruffled by the all-encompassing presence of,

The spine-chilling silence which defines such nights.

It is for them that,

The predators camouflaged in this blanket of darkness,

Remains uneasily on their guard,

In the fear of being discovered.

It is as if they dance to the tune of,

That rebellious music of life which exists even there,

Defying the realm of fear.

Their glowing hope,

Remains open to be explored by us,

So that we too can find,

That music in life which inspires ignited minds.
