Shooting Stars
Shooting Stars
I was walking on a dark street alone at night.
There was this unsettling feeling consuming my mind,
But my heart kept consoling me that everything was alright.
Seeking answers to all my unsought questions;
My gaze went up to the barely star-lit night.,
And suddenly a shooting star came passing by.
I closed my eyes and made a wish
I wished for you happiness,
And for our love to last forever.
Smiling slightly I opened my eyes
Only to realize that shooting star was nowhere in sight.
Finally I reached home to you
I wanted to tell you about the strange feeling in my mind
I wanted to tell you about the shooting star,
And what I wished from it that night.
But when I opened the door with the keys I had-
This unsettling feeling kept increasing
As each second passed.
And now even my heart started to ache
The lights were out, room silent
You weren't home I assumed,
Yet I called for you in a hopeful voice
There was a deafening silence
Throughout the house
This place was cold, lifeless
Unlike the home it used to be.
I fumbled with the lights
For my hands trembled,
Something felt wrong
And out of place
I frantically looked around
But you were nowhere to be found.
And then,
My eyes fell on a note:
"I'm leaving for good",
It said.
No explanations,
No apologies.
I felt numb as I fell on the floor
And saw that even the shooting star
Couldn't make my unfathomable wish come true.
