She Too, Will Fly
She Too, Will Fly
There was once a girl, raised in a cage
She wrote her story, page by page
She wrote her story in a small diary,
She vigorously scribbled, when she was fiery
When other children went out to play,
The girl was restricted, made to stay
She either doodled all day or read,
Perhaps they did not hear, what she said
She longed to giggle with friends, make small jokes
She wanted to explore and trod on mossed oaks
But the girl was a trophy, meant to be on display,
She was a genius, she heard her dad say
She was deprived of any social interaction,
Her friends were labelled as a distraction
Her mom poisoned her mind against her cousins,
She was advised by the dozen
Her mother was stricter than a catholic nun,
Then how could the girl have any fun?
Locked in a girls' boarding, meant to stay,
Adolescence came, but her crushes were driven away
She thought adulthood would be less of a pain,
But a label of insanity she had to explain
The label was meant to keep her in control
Her dad controlled her finances, the whole
They told her, now who will marry you?
Worry not, we have a solution for that too
We will find a man to bring you under control,
Love is nonsense, there is no mate for your soul
The girl looks at kites, flying in a clear sky,
One day, he will come, and she too will fly.
