Shadows in Light
Shadows in Light
Whenever,
your heart with Righteousness swells
Remember,
not all ideals are to be upheld.
Not all causes are for a just fight
To be shadows, there must be light!
Whenever,
thy voice rhymes and the words seems golden
Remember,
not all words are meant to be spoken.
Not all pretty vistas are for our sight
To be shadows, there must be light!
Whenever,
a battle looms with arms to the call
Remember,
to death all the braves will fall.
Survive and be proud of your cowardice
To be shadows, there must be light!
Whenever,
you dread the dark and the beast of the lair
And suddenly,
a spark fills you and all seems fair.
This may be divine?
What fills empty space, maybe God or air.
If you believe in a God of light
Cower, cower then....
for there surely must be a God of fright
To be shadows there must be light!
Charity and worship, blessing and mercy.
Love, friendship, truth and honesty.
These are all fine but only for the crowds.
Fear and loathing, anger and longing.
Hate, grief, jealousy and malice.
That's the real you, Inside your black heart
Under humanity's shroud.
Tell me,
Don't you rejoice in your strife?
Because,
To be shadows, there must be light!
Whenever, there's a sermon on your lips
And you feel holier than thou.
Remember, we have always hated each other
In the past, in the future and in the now.
Your struggles may be great, Oh Saints
But they are far far beneath my petty fients.
In the neighbour's pain,
There is Oh so much delight!
Truly,
To be shadows there must be light!
