What is a poem, they ask?

Is it a thousand lives

Lived in the span of an era,

Or a story in a short para?

Or a jaunty song hummed

In your raunchy own beat,

But dare you critique,

Be ready for some heat.

So many vivid definitions,

Some pure, some contrite,

None are correct, and all are right.

Maybe,

It's just our emotions

Distilled through our thoughts

And squeezed onto paper

In melancholy, blot by blot.

Maybe,

Who knows...

A poem is its own reason,

A poem just is!
