RIVERLIKE

The fidgety river sped in thirst unknown;

Never did she mind the obstacles in her way.

Nothing flouted her unfailing determination;

Her sole destination was her mighty companion.

She moved on unhindered to have her longings,

Although slightly struggling, but never disheartened.

Pebbles formless, she carved them beautiful;

Fish, big and small, moved along effortlessly, whisking about;

Logs with swollen bellies relished a free trip, floating;

She rushed ahead, attracting the admiring eyes on the bank;

Never did she charge them for any service rendered,

Nor wailed or grumbled in complaints.

She never knows the way awaiting her,

Maybe straight or narrow, even curvy sometimes;

Nor does she know how long her journey is.

But she never stops to rest, even if weary;

Nor does she get lost in thoughts, futile.

She heads ahead gurgling, with her goal in view.

She is the best teacher with the best lesson

For the dispirited lives without hopes.

Never does she halt in her course,

Howsoever demanding it may seem to be, 

And even if stirred and tramped over abysmally.

Life is such; it has to move on, but always ahead.
