Ode to Swargadeo Chaolung Sukapha

We, the people of Assam proudly celebrate Asom Divas,
Also known as Sukapha Divas,
On the second day of December every year.

This day marks the arrival of Swargadeo Chaolung Sukapha
Who was the founder and first king Of the Ahom kingdom in Assam
In the 13th century.

His journey from his original Tai state to Assam
Laid the foundation for the historic Ahom kingdom
That ruled medieval Assam incredibly
For about 600 years!

Swargadeo Chaolung Sukapha is regarded as
A strong, courageous, and visionary leader
Who, truly, unified the diverse Indigenous tribes of Assam
And fostered harmony among them.

"Asom Divas" or "Sukapha Divas" Celebrates the commendable legacy of
Swargadeo Chaolung Sukapha's social unification, cultural integration,
And able leadership as a ruler
That shaped "Bor Asom" or greater Assam.

We, the people of Assam, commemorate
Swargadeo Chaolung Sukapha’s successful and relentless efforts
To establish peace and socio-cultural harmony 
Among various communities in the then 'Asom'.

"Asom Divas" or "Sukapha Divas", indeed, highlights
The rich cultural heritage of Assam.
On this historic day, traditional folk music
And dances such as Bihu, Bagurumba, and Bhortal
Are being presented at every nook and corner in Assam
With utmost reverence and enthusiasm!

The educational institutions and communities
Wholeheartedly involve and participate
In award ceremonies, cultural performances and processions,
Showcasing the vibrant traditional miscellany
And the cultural medley of our state Assam.

In fact, "Asom Divas" or "Sukapha Divas" reminds us
That true courage, inspiring wisdom, continuous efforts
For tge socio-economic development of the land,
Unselfish love and care for the land and the people 
And commendable inclusiveness Can, undoubtedly, lay the matchless foundation of
A strengthened and consolidated society
That fosters oneness devoid of Worthless discrimination and racial clashes 

So, let's remember and honour Swargadeo Chaolung Sukapha’s
contribution
In, truly, bringing socio-cultural unity
And fostering cultural richness in Assam

Indeed, time is propitious for Inspiring the younger generation
To uphold these values for
The future years to come!
