My Favourite Diwali Day
My Favourite Diwali Day
Hi!
Mom and Dad,
This poem is dedicated to you both on this Deepavali Day.
It was a cool rainy day when I was Six.
Next to my door was my friend Amit.
Eagerly waiting to light crackers at night.
Dad had no money to buy crackers,
But mom saved some for my sake,
Secretly, bought them to make me happy.
So Ignorant and innocent I was
Sensed the trouble at once, later.
Minced the words to be uttered.
Packed those crackers and returned
To mom, cutting sorry face a
nd sad
Never wanted to celebrate and enjoy.
Dad and mom tried to console me,
To enhance my mood and mind.
But I was reluctant to abide their words.
Today, I want to celebrate Deepavali
With mom and dad and my kids,
But! Alas! Dad, you are not with me.
Days have passed reminding Your words,
On each Deepavali, when lights were lit,
Blessings felt by me always from you.
Harvesting my thoughts and emotions,
I wrote here with my past experience,
This one poem on Deepavali celebrations.
