Times Of Adversity

We’re all being prepared for whatever it is that’s going to be our battle.

In the fair weather, make no mistake to take things lightly and settle.

Stock up on the strength of character and determination of iron and steel,

Stock up on love and on empathy and on wisdom and kind words that heal.

There is going to be a time when the savage hunt for all of these will be futile,

When there’s no time to think and delve and ponder and build and be servile.

The thinking and delving and pondering and building and being servile

Must be done in a time when the winds of tragedy are apart by many a mile,

When your heart begins to show the weaknesses that it had hidden deep within

And a crippled resolve begins to reveal the appalling thoughts that are unclean.   

There’s no time for prayers now, mayhem has started, the wildfire’s ignited.

No persuasion or prayer can tame that tongue - obliteration is being expedited.

Come the winds of doom and times of trying, all the strength will begin to fail,

And then you can begin to lean upon your stocked up powerhouse’s holy grail.

By ill-fate if you falter and trip up and in the trenches by yourself have to dive,

Without any weaponry and without the skills you have to get yourself out alive.

Just stick to your instinct and pull yourself through; you’ll know what to do,

In the end, you’ll always have your last resort - your conscience to run to.
