Journey To Heaven
Journey To Heaven
This lovely journey
I want to talk,
In the himalayas
I love to walk.
It all started
From heavy traffic of plains,
To the not so busy
Single lanes
On one side
There were mighty hills,
On the other
The valley thrills.
The company of a river
With no end,
Now we were passing through
The uttarakhand.
On the way stopped by
Sunset and rain,
Morning dip in ganga
Journey started again.
On the banks of Ganga
A place I found,
Had piece of mind
With no one around..
Waterfalls on the way
Soothing to our vision,
Trees laden with fruits
It was the apple season.
A board was saying,
Way to Yamunotri,
But we had to go
To the Gangotri.
Reached Gangotri in the evening
Just before sunset,
Shivering in the cool breeze
As we were all wet.
There we had a glimpse of
A mountain called Sudarshan,
It looked shiny golden
Taking its color from the sun.
Everyone was ready
With a heavy backpack,
The next four days,
We all had to trek.
Trek started from Gangotri,
Pines and deodars all around,
We saw goats called bharals
And birds with sweet sound.
We were tired and hungry
Took off our boots,
Had brunch at Chirbasa
Of bread and fruits.
From Chirbasa to Bhojwasa
The journey was thrilling,
As we went higher and higher
The wind was chilling.
Reached Bhojwasa in the evening
Enjoyed hot tea from a stall,
And took our dinner,
Chawal dal, that’s all.
After a tiring day,
What we needed was a sound sleep,
Warm clothing and many blankets
We all had to keep.
Morning wind was so cold
Dry and red were our cheeks,
We had a lovely view
Of all Bhagirathi peaks.
Next day heavy boulders
We all had to scale,
Going up and down looked risky
But we must not fail.
At Gomukh, the glacier
It’s visited by only a few,
The origin of Ganga
Gave a magnificent view.
Next part of the trek was
Not for the weak,
You walk on the glacier
Surrounded by snowy peaks.
Last one hour steep climb and
Reached Tapowan at around seven,
Believe it or not
It was just like heaven.
A stream Gupt Ganga
And there were no trees,
In the daytime it melts
During night it freeze.
Surrounded by mountains
It’s an alpine meadow,
Sunrays making it shine
Clouds casting their shadow.
It looked like a place
I had never ever known,
I thought it’s the home
God has made for his own.
Meru, Sumeru like brothers
And beautiful Shivling,
You are sitting in their laps
Never experienced such a thing.
Few green patches on the ground
Water was all frozen,
To see such a natural wonder
You must be one of the chosen.
I and my friend were stunned
We asked our wives,
Can we all live here
For the rest of our lives
