Hiber'nation'
Hiber'nation'

Nation has gone hyper
On nationalism and religion.
Borders get blurred between
Reason and treason.
Legal justice, checks, and balances
Have gone into hibernation.
Police have become the state
For the rule of law, there is distaste.
Connection and nexus go
Hand in hand, power becomes
A magic wand.
Powerless live the commoner
Democracy has become a misnomer.
COVID surges, government claims belie
Politics and experts, their assurances
Of no consequence, who buys?
If you get infected don’t go in search of a bed
At the end of it, you will be tired and dead.
Green shoots in the economy we are told
Consequences of reforms that are bold.
Grey clouds on the horizon
Gloomy has become the season.
For whom did we all clap
For whom we did the candle lighting?
Where is the leader, who will lead us
From darkness into light?
I am on my own
The leader I shall disown.
