Her Name Was Sue

Her name was Sue

[this is true] I met her

When I was young

[when dreams sprung]

Her friend was Deborah

I remember this well

One day, whilst at Sue’s house

Deborah knocked at the door

Sue’s unembarrassed delight

At seeing her was enthusiastic

She hugged her and said “come in”

Then as a thought, turned to me 

and said, “This is Les”

Deborah and I said our

‘How do you do’s”

An anti-climax to the main event
