Teardrops

If I showed you my teardrops

would you collect them like rain,

Or would you store them in jars

and label them with the word "PAIN."

Would you follow their tracks 

from my eyes down to my cheeks,

As they write all of the stories

that I am just too scared to speak.

Would you stop them like kisses

and bring their flow to a screeching halt,

As you teach me that pain

is not always just my fault.

Would you hold my face gently

as you dry both of my eyes,

And whisper the words,

"You are too beautiful to cry."

If I showed you my teardrops 

would you show me your own,

As we learn that though we are lonely

we are never really all alone.
