A Through Gentleman!

  A Thorough gentleman!

My gardener works so hard,

He never takes any leave at all, 

He is working here for so many years now,

We know him so well, he is a thorough gentleman!

As his only daughter was getting married,

He needed some money badly we knew, 

We readily gave it to him as a token of love,

Not expecting anything in return as we know it will be difficult for him!

But, to our surprise, within a few months time,

He brings with him half of the sum,

And returns it back saying he is already late,

Now, I console him saying there’s no urgency at all from our side!

Don’t trouble yourself so much, to give it back,

If you have to, then you can take your own sweet time,

As we know it’s not easy for you,

To return back the big amount so soon!

Things are reversed in his case,

He wants to give it back,

And we are hesitant to take,

Knowing well how hard he works to make both ends meet!

Again after a few months, another big chunk he brings,

I say not required so soon,

You manage your days well first,

Only if it remains, then give it slowly, it’s ok!

For that he says, he feels bad giving it back in bits,

He wanted to give the whole chunk back, just as he had received it,

What a trustworthy truthful soul, 

God should bless him more and more!
