Her Life, Her Way
Her Life, Her Way
Pain ridden days and grieving nights,
That hospital smell and the doctors in whites;
Had been her world for over a month.
Now it’s finally over was her heartening hunch!
The hurrying and scurrying of the specialists,
Eventually was to her benefit.
The single gnash of his knife,
Had been enough to transport her to her ‘after life’.
Her life lay in pieces all around her,
The events of the past month were just one blur.
She knew it was now “Do-or Die”
She had to seize the moment; she had to fly!
This wintry morning, dejected and hopeless with the turn of events,
She saw a ray of light shining through a fog dense.
Surely this was an omen; ‘when one door closes, another window opens?
That sliver of weak sunlight shone as a ray of hope in her life of desolation.
She resolved to shed the darkness that engulfed her,
The gruesome black and blue bruises acted as spur.
It was as if she had woken up from a deep drugged sleep.
Her shattered self esteem finally gathered up courage to crawl out and peep.
It was a long way to freedom; she knew in her heart.
But then, someday, somewhere she had to make a start!
To stay in this abusive marriage was no longer an option,
She had to venture out and find a solution.
Marriages may be made in heaven, but they are played out on Earth,
And of inhumanity in this world there is no dearth.
She had to break the shackles and breathe in the free air,
If she had to live, she had to call in his dare!
She had been granted a second life,
For that she had had to go under a surgical knife!
She would not let the efforts of guardian angles’ go waste,
Woe betide anyone, if they now try to from her goal displace!
