Goodbyes
Goodbyes
Silent woods, silent paths
You stand there staring at his receding back
Taking the moment and imprinting it on your brain
Holding back the tears, fighting away the pain.
Chaotic stormy night
You see her climb up the steps and wave goodbye
Lock your eyes with her, unafraid to cry
Knowing that the rain will wash your tears out of sight
Wait for the screaming train to come to a stop
Step down, turn around
She sits by the window looking at you
Drowning in feelings but words are so few
The train pulls away and you wave goodbye
To a time, a place, and a life gone by.
