In a family of five girls

including Ma, you were

our only male companion 

Akin to our God on earth

as Dad and wife

Never once did you express

need of a son 

to fill the gap

carry on with your name

'when I have sweet angels'!

Our bread earner, our friend,

our teacher, our role model

All rolled into one, you were

the only Hero in our lives

we clung onto, like vines

cling onto walls made of iron

Your persona shone brighter

eclipsing the sun, moon, and stars, such that when you left

without a word, our lives

plunged into depths so dark

It took a while to move on in life

without you, rendered anchorless.

Adrift on the high seas of life

With no one to turn to, we learned to keep ourselves afloat through many lessons 

you taught us, girls

'be strong independent individuals, respect yourself'

And we live by those words.
