First Crush
First Crush

Just turned fifteen
Hormones on the upswing
Yearned for that first kiss
Read in Mills & Boon stories
Described in great detail
As experience serene..
But who would kiss me?
Ugly duckling at fifteen
Face full of red pimples
Buck teeth with braces steel
Appearance still childish
Gawky, unfit to be seen with..
Only forte was in dancing
Nimble on feet, quick in maneuvering
Sought out by boys in parties
To show off their dancing skills
But none did even throw a flying kiss
Waited in anticipation with parted lips..
Wait was over on New Year's Eve
The Last Waltz was being played
Floor lights had been dimmed
Felt Peter's lips over mine hovering
Trying to pry open my lipstick smeared lips
Without hesitation obliged
Mind, body, soul, set on fire
As we tasted each other's saliva
Probing, drinking, nectar forever
Bodies welded into each other
First flush of unknown pleasure
Filling senses with virgin desire
Alas...ended too soon that first kiss
Lights turned on, lips unlocked
Dreamy world blew up in my face
Lips had cut, completely swollen
Making me look more horrendous
What was I going to explain to my parents
Face their quizzical looks, questions.
'Bestie' Susan came to my rescue
Spent the weekend at her place
Lips layered with Vaseline to erase
Marks of that first kiss that was left
Recall with amusement at my naivety at fifteen
Feel stupid now that I am in my sixties...
