Empty Nest
Empty Nest
It was picked and carried away
From a bunch of his lookalike
Kept in a beautiful case he thought
Oh I am so lonely but why?
I would be happier where I was
With all in the open air.
The petals bowed down to him
Seeing him in despair.
The bird sat in its nest
Protecting her young from the storm
She did so night and day
She took care till they were strong.
But once they learnt to fly
They left her so suddenly,
She saw and let them go
Feeling Oh so lonely!
We give them life
And nurture them
We hold and let them grow
But once they stand taller than us
We all see them go.
That is what life is about
Unexpected yet so lovely
But when time comes we need to leave
Our loved ones Oh so Lonely!
