Eid
Eid
The sunsets and the crescent moon of Shawwal creep...
The siren declares the arrival of Eid.
A buzz of excitement and anticipation in the air...
Tonnes of joys and happiness everywhere.
People are happy about the rewarding night...
So is Satan, as he regained his might.
People rush to the mosques to receive the reward...
Seeking Allah's forgiveness is their only thought.
Womenfolk are busy illuminating every dome.
And decorating their homes...
Girls rush to the parlours...
For mehandi and lightened skin tones.
Children won't blink an eye the whole night...
Dawn may not miss their sight.
They wish every day should be Eid...
So that their wallets never be empty.
Tinkling bangles and shimmering anklets...
Tinkling bangles and shimmering anklets...
Mothers cook sheerkhorma to appease the palates.
Let us binge...
Do not restrict...
Ohh! The food is too yummy to resist.
The feast is for all...
Big or small...
Rich or poor...
Relative or neighbour.
Eid brings harmony and togetherness...
Loads of joys and happiness.
