Daddy's Wishes!

He can’t be there for hugs and kisses,

Or all those happy birthday wishes.

He can’t be there to turn out the light,

But daddy dreams of you each night.

He’s sorry he missed all those years,

Please be brave and wipe away those tears.

Or to tell you things you want to know,

As you get older he won’t see you grow.

He’s sorry he missed Christmas and Easter,

You know he loves you but just can’t be there.

Daddy wants you to be brave and strong,

Please be good in school and try to get along.

Believe me, I know all the things he’s missed,

Like the pub and the bookies, I bet he’s pissed!

Your daddy was bad he done wrong,

So it’s up to you to carry on.

He’ll be here for a while even though he hates it,

I know how he’s feeling, believe me, I can relate to it,

I’m here myself and it’s not that bad,

But your poor daddies are sick he’s fecken mad.

He knows it was his fault that he got caught,

If he had kept his cool he would have not,

But your daddy didn’t that’s why he’s here,

Full of anger and bitterness regret and fear.

But it won’t be much longer till he gets home,

So tell mammies boyfriend he better be going,

Because when daddy gets out and finds him there,

It won’t be very long until he’s back in here.
