A Thirst That Can'T Be Quenched
A Thirst That Can'T Be Quenched
Success, victory, triumph
Tastes good, sweet at first,
But a dry mouth follows a sweet tooth
Yearning for water to quench the thirst.
With miles accomplished,
Certificates in hand, a white collar job,
Sumptuous enough,
I look higher, higher and higher
For there is no boundary to my greed.
People always told me,
Aim higher, dream bigger
But they never said-‘ be contented’.
Live life to the brim!
There are moments of introspection,
When I wonder what a ruthless, brusque monster,
I have created out of myself
Who can’t see a flower blossom
If the garden is not her own.
As I now look at my baleful intentions,
The jealous, envious, covetous attitude
I regret .
I boil from within seeing a person more successful
I sense aversion developing.
I try to stop but the fumes from within still roar.
I often wonder,
Is this what money has earned me,
An insecure mind?
Is this what success has gifted me,
A thirst that can’t be quenched!
