A Student's Dilemma
A Student's Dilemma
Have you ever given yourself the very thought
That after 10 plus 2, then what?
It makes me nervous and I am at a total loss
Finding myself at the criss-cross.
Science commerce or arts
Which one is going to be on my cards?
I wonder what will I be after six years
Will I be happy, contended or in tears?
My father wants me to be an engineer
But mathematics is what I can't bear
I say aloud, I plea
Law is not my cup of tea.
I dream, I imagine, I fancy
What about chartered accountancy
Shall I opt for sports as a career?
But my poor grades in academics might act as a barrier.
My favourite past time is learning new words and its usage
Do you suggest a course in languages
I love my country and would like to fly high
What about defence services or being a spy?
Aha ! Why not join national school of drama for theatre
But a thought occurred, isn't radio jockeying better
Wow myself in the Taj as a chef
On second thoughts, I wanted to be an actor like Saif.
If one's doctor prescribes them a pill
With surely a heavy bill
But medical sciences accept my due apology
As I don't score good in biology.
Finding so many NIFTians shining
I nurture a secret desire to go in for designing
I am smart and adept at handling guests
But will my short stature be a deterrent in becoming an air hostess?
Someone please understand my plight
Guide me so that my future is bright
Here comes the counsellor for rescue.
She said,"know thyself, know your limitations
Realistic should be your ambition.
Do not go by mere convention
Choose where lies your interest and passion
Hard work blended with determination
Will guide you to find a career of your choice
So go ahead, leave all the apprehensions and find your way
With the blessings of the Almighty, teachers, parents showered on you everyday".
