Things We Have In Common With Angels

The purpose of this is to point out that we human beings living on planet earth have a lot in common with Angels. Holy Spirit says that a good way to see this is to begin with reviewing some of the ways in which we human beings and Angels are different.

TEXT VERSE 1 : Psalm 68:17 - The chariots of God are twenty thousand, even thousands of angels: the Lord is among them, as in Sinai, in the holy place.

TEXT VERSE 2 : Hebrews 12:22 - But ye are come unto mount Zion, and unto the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable number of angels.

One obvious difference between human beings and Angels is that there are many more Angels than human beings. It is possible to count the number of people living on planet earth. For example, one source on the internet shows that at the present time there are six billion, five hundred eighty-eight million, three hundred fifty-one thousand, and six hundred one (i.e. 6,588,351,601) people living on planet earth.

But according to what Holy Spirit inspired to be written in Hebrew 12:22, it is impossible for us humans to number or count Angels. When Holy Spirit inspired these words, because of the eternal foreknowledge of our Father, He knew that human beings would have computers someday. And yet, Holy Spirit told us that there are so many Angels that human beings do not have the capacity to be able to count them. There will always be more Angels than even the combined total number of people born on planet earth from the beginning of time to the end of time.

There is a word of encouragement to state at this point

When Christ our Lord was going through His time of trial that would result in His crucifixion, in Matthew 26:53, it is stated that He could have called twelve legions of Angels for assistance. Since a full legion of Roman soldiers was six thousand one hundred soldiers, this means that Christ our Lord could have called seventy three thousand and two hundred (73,200) angels, and this would not have caused a shortage of Angels anywhere. There will always be more Angels than the combined number of people living on planet earth, saints in Heaven, and sinners in Hell.

TEXT VERSE 3 : Psalm 103:20 - Bless the Lord, ye his angels, that excel in strength, that do his commandments, hearkening unto the voice of the word.

TEXT VERSE 4 : 2 Peter 2:11 - Whereas angels, which are greater in power and might, bring not railing accusation against them before the Lord.

These text verses state another difference between Angels and human beings. Angels are much more powerful than human beings. In TEXT VERSE 4, the words “power” and “might” refer both to inherent ability and strength that Angels have. The power and might of Angels are greater than the evil blasphemers mentioned in 2 Peter 2:10.

Some Bible scholars feel that these blasphemers include false prophets. The idea is that the power and might of Angels is greater than not only those doing evil acts, but also the demons that are influencing people to do evil acts. This means that not only is the power and might of Angels greater than that of human beings, but also greater than that of demons.
