Maya And The Guardian Of Earth

 Somewhere in the realm where the gods lived, the guardian of the earth was walking anxiously thinking on how he could save the people on earth from this pandemic and suffering. After his immense negotiation the God of the Gods declared,

“Since it’s the humans who got this suffering on their own, I will grant your wish, If and only if a human wished to save the earth, this pandemic situation would go in a moment. However the clause is that of the three wishes given to them all the three should only be for others and not for their own self. Also, you will not reach out to any saints or the obvious glorified ones. It has to be an ordinary human”!

This was the most impossible task as there lived no such humans who could think for only and only others. The last three years the guardian of earth took various forms and shapes to grant wishes but he found none. It was 1st December 2021 and the situation had not improved for anyone on this planet. In his yet another attempt he took the form of a Genie in the lamp and was waiting under in a sand pit under the see-saw in a community playground. Finally, after a few days a 11 year old girl picked it up and went up home in excitement. She washed it under the tap water with her hand, as she rubbed it again and again, out came a genie with a boom. 

The lamp fell down from her hand at the sight of this purplish genie in the bathroom.

“Hey girl! are you poor, your clothes are so skimpy?” asked the genie

“Umm..., am not poor, and these are denim shorts. Wow!! This lamp is a projector.”

“Aren’t, you scared of me?”

“There are much scarier things than you” asserted the girl as she picked up the lamp and started rubbing again

“Hey, hey, hey girl, listen up! What’s your name? I can grant you any of your 3 wishes, you know like chocolates, toys, more projectors, more skimpy clothes, anything you want. Common ask me, hey girl, stop rubbing that lamp, look at me…..am talking to you…what are you doing?”

“You talk a lot. Does this lamp have any buttons to change your features?”

“Well, I am a genie and I have magic, ughh…. stop rubbing that lamp and listen to me!”

“Umm…magic! If you know magic, then why don’t you go and keep doing magic yourself.”

The genie got restless at this comment from the girl. He held her by her shoulder and said

 “Young girl, genies just don’t happen like that. Don’t you watch movies or read folklore's, I am bound by my master, and I can only do what my master says, since you got me out of this lamp, I do what you say”

“Huh! Okay genie….”

“Maya, whom are you talking to in the bathroom for so long” called the girl’s mom

“Mom it’s a genie”

“Shhh…How can you just say that……say something else” whispered the genie

“Are you proposing me to lie?”

Genie thought it’s impossible with this girl so he turned into a two feet robot which the girl already had in her room “See am your robot now, you are talking to a robot! Come let’s go”

The next few weeks turned out to be an ordeal for the genie to convince Maya to make a wish. He offered her to do homework, gadgets, tickets to Disney land, travel around the world, games, fancy clothes, big house with a pool, everything that a child on earth could love. She refused everything. After giving up, the genie sat inside the fishbowl thinking what else could he propose to the girl. He checked in her flashback, her likes and dislikes. Strange, she was helpful to all including animals, plants and even insects, she loved reading, experimenting and was happy in general, a very wonderful kid.

He came up with an idea “Maya, I can grant you with eternal knowledge, faster and sharper brain, so you can be ahead of time and help all”

“That’s an interesting offer “, she took out her pink unicorn diary and listed as wish number one and she continued “Now that we are talking about wishes, why can’t you free yourself?”

“I can be free only if my master wished me to be free”

“Hmm, that’s my second wish now” jotted down Maya in her diary

“She made one selfless wish” he whispered to himself, and continued “Make a third wish, like an island in Hawaii with riches for generations”

“Genie, why are you after things always? Don’t you think of love, making world a better place”

“That’s new! What do you mean by love”

“Like how you love your freedom from your master, like the way mom dad love me, the way god loves all”

“I wish each and every living and non-living on this planet be filled with eternal love, like the love of god. And……can you make this pandemic go away by your magic “

“But those are two wishes and you have two more jotted down. I can only grant three”

“Ummmm…..wait then let me write the three for you”

 Finally, the guardian of the earth came across one someone who thought for others but there was one wish for self on eternal knowledge. He kept his fingers crossed as Maya started writing down.

Maya said here is my wish, “Genie,

Make the pandemic go away. Let each and every living and non-living thing on this planet be filled with eternal love, like the love of god. I wish you to be set free forever and be your own master "The genie now turned into the guardian of the earth. He bowed down to Maya as she stood in surprise.

“Who are you Genie?”

There was absolute silence at the midday, not a single leaf moved. The guardian of earth looked up at the heavens, moved his hand in the air projecting a golden light covering entire earth. The light exploded into heavens and earth alike “I grant you all your wishes my little one. Let the will of the God of Gods be done!”

The world was struck by the magic on the first day of the second month in year 2022. The pandemic and the virus were disintegrated for ever. The world was filled with eternal love, there was no war, no competition, everyone worked together for everyone’s progressiveness. Just the way the Maya had wished for.

The guardian of earth turned to Maya touched her forehead with his hand,” I waited for this for years even before this pandemic started. Thank you, my child. I grant you the eternal knowledge and wisdom, I will be by your side and answer whenever you call me for. Love you my child” And he vanished

Moral : We receive good only by giving good to all.
