After Life

Afterlife, that is the life after the death. There are lengthy, esoteric philosophical deliberations and debates on this topic. I tried to think about it in depth. But my focus always shifted to this life I am living. After life is unknown to me or for that matter anyone of us. Before I share my thoughts about after life, here are my thoughts about this life.

I have been fortunate to be born as a human being, one of the most evolved of lives on this planet. Have I lived this life to its fullest potential? Have I fulfilled all my duties to the best of my abilities? Have I contributed positively to the society? Am I kind to fellow human beings and treat them caringly and lovingly? have I hurt anyone knowingly or unknowingly and if so, can I make amends? What is the purpose of my life?

I have answers to some of these questions in my heart. I have fulfilled some of these, up to my satisfaction and ability. Some are still works under progress! Some works have to be continued till the end. When I am still not having the present life under grips, why be inquisitive about after life or next life? Are we scared of whatever happens after this life ends. If we are leading this life fairly and according to basic rules of humanity, there should be nothing to worry.

 I certainly believe that the way I live this life will have a bearing on how my next lives, if any, are going to be. Therefore, I believe my focus should be on my present life. I am busy with my life and there is still much more to do.

I wish to take the afterlife as it comes and let it be a surprise! Why do I want to limit the imagination about my afterlife based on the present life? Maybe it is going to be spectacular and beyond my imagination. I will wait and watch!
