REFLECTION
REFLECTION
When I look back and reflect upon the life, it is amazing that over 60 years have gone by. The enthusiasm and eagerness to complete the studies and take up a job, to be independent and at the same time extend a helping hand to the family, all look and feel very recent.
Job was followed by marriage and then we brought two sweet kids into the family; while running to secure the life of the family and to have our own roof over our heads, everything happened in a quick succession before we could realize and register. Both of us had a satisfying and productive career, where we could contribute for the welfare of society.
For the first time we rubbed against the rough side of life when we lost my parents, who always lived with us. Though they lived life to the fullest, their loss was a big blow to us as our rock-solid support system collapsed.
Another blow came to me with the loss of my husband on 29th September this year. He was the anchor of our lives and centre of the entire household. Yet rather than mourn his loss, I am happy for him, knowing very well, how every passing single day was a battle, given his chronic illness. He fought for 20 long years and what an amazing soldier he was! There was no resentment or complaint about his suffering, every morning he was up with a smile, to face a new day. Jiddu Krishna Murthy gave him company all through the day and the day’s learning would come as a post next day, in his Face Book and Insta handles.
As he had limited mobility and could not venture outside his room, I tried to bring the outside world to him. I would capture interesting birds, Peacocks that visited us once in a while, beautiful Sampangi flowers, Brahma kamalam ,varieties of lillies and other flowers in the phone camera and share with him. Everything small and big interested him.
Towards the end he refused to be admitted into the hospital but gave up the battle, valiantly suffered for a day and emerged a winner! We gave him a grand farewell with Laurels and accolades albeit with tears.
Being positive and happy in life is a choice which we made. Together we have learned to be positive under any circumstance, to be content with whatever we are given and to fight out the adversities of life without ever complaining about the fate. I will continue with the same in the coming years drawing strength from the memories I am left with...
