The Girl From The Garden
The Girl From The Garden
I lost you somewhere between her fingers.
I left you on the altar for someone else to hold your hand.
I told you I would come back, but I cried as she took every little detail of yours.
I wanted you to wait but your pretty eyes met someone else’s as soon as I left.
I didn't intend to lose you.
I didn't leave you at the altar for someone else.
I would have come back if you have waited in this garden just a little longer.
I could have stared your pretty eyes for hours but they were too desperate to lock with someone.
So, I watched you everywhere as you went with her, forgetting if I ever existed in your world.
I saw her called you names that I thought only I could tell you.
I saw you making efforts.
I saw you leaning in to kiss her.
I saw you holding her as she is everything you had,
And all these reminded me of how I treated you.
Hear this out,
I didn't lose you, I was just finding my best self to give it to you.
I didn't leave you, I went to get the piece of paper that had my vows on it.
I didn’t disappear in this garden leaving you behind. I went to pluck some flowers for you.
And I am still waiting here, among these greens, looking at your life’s scenes.
I see you with her now and then, sitting on the spots where we sat, while you kissed my soul.
I AM STILL HERE WAITING FOR HER TO LEAVE,
TO FIND HERSELF WHILE YOU THINK SHE LOST YOU.
Maybe that day I will teach you what you never knew.
